Vanity size in master bath

Our master bath is very 1980's and we finally decided to give it a total make over. This master bath has 6 closets and there is a big walk in in the master bedroom so it's really overkill. 2 of the closets are essential as they house the water heater and air conditionning unit.

The old vanity was 98inches long and located between 2 walls ( air conditionning closet and regular closet). My question is.. would it look weird to put 2 36inch vanities in that space or should we get a vanity to fill the whole space?

I have seen some in the same style with double sinks but was thinking about just getting 2 ?? I haven't seen any that are nearly as long as the open space. I have absolutely no "design" vision and really need help (pictures?) figuring out what would look best. I have searched the internet and don't really find anything.

I have definitely seen a picture or 2 of those vanities standing side-by-side with a gap in the middle. What you're asking isn't unheard of.

If you don't mind the broken counter top, go for it!

Do you like the furniture look of the piece? The fact that it can 'stand on its own'? If you really love it, you could probably find someone to custom build a large vanity to fill your space. It seems scary but depending on where you live, it is totally doable. They could even match that dark stain.

P.S. you don't need a vision. Gather things you like, put them together and think about what works and what looks weird and 'off'. Change that weird piece out and think about it again....

keep doing that... sometimes 20 times, until you come up with something that makes your knees weak! :) It's not rocket science!

I don't see why not, though double sink vanity would look more upscale, I suppose. You can make the design choice intentional by making the whole thing symmetrical.

You said you were centering the mirror over the drawer base. But said the mirror would be 1.5" from the wall. Sorry that does not compute. I assume you would have a mirror centered over each sink base instead. If that is the case and you have the double sconce in the middle I think it will be fine. An inch and a half from the wall should be enough space. Are you planning on some overhead lighting too. The mirror is very nice. It is fancy but not ornate. I think it will look great in your bathroom.

I don't think large size is particularly important in a bathroom sink -- a kitchen is completely different, but how big a sink do you really need to wash your hands and brush your teeth? I'd say pick a shape and look you like -- and go with it. However, don't choose a shallow sink. I didn't realize this was a big issue until I moved into my current house -- we have lovely shell-shaped sinks, but they're shallow and if the water's turned on with any force at all, they "splash back" at us. And do pay attention to how the faucet will extend over the sink. When we moved into this house, my girls' bathroom had big chunky faucets that extended "too far" over the sink -- they actually seemed to take up space in the sink. I replaced them with something smaller and taller, and they're nicer now. When we build, I intend to go with wall-mounted faucets to make cleaning easier and to take up NO space on the vanity. Like the above poster, I also don't care for 24" deep vanities in the bathroom -- and for the same reason; it feels like I'm too far from the mirror. I'm also going with 18" deep vanities in my new house; deep storage under the bathroom sink just leads to clutter anyway. If you still have the option to reconsider this, I would.

The vanities are opposite each other in the master bath. The larger one is 8.5 feet from linen cabinet to wall and the other is 6 feet from shower knee wall to wall. Don't know if this is enough info but all I have at the time. Thanks for any input.

Even with a full width mirror, because of the light fixture placement, it still looks off to me. I would use a LED lighted mirror and forego the light fixture above the mirror.
