She posted on the TGIF thread that she is on the farm today, getting ready for the auction. That is really taking a toll on her.

Thank you, everyone. Uncle Marty is in critical care, the doctors kept saying "it doesn't look good", but he's hanging in there. Not much change from the time they airlifted him to the heart center until now, but he's still here. I've since learned that he had an aneurysm "somewhere near the spine", my Aunt Donna is pretty vague, I think she doesn't understand much of what she is told.

We are talking about a nearly 70 year old man with heart problems and lung cancer, so all predictions are pretty dire, but maybe he can surprise them all.

Tricia, all the elders in my family say "it comes in threes". I sure hope not but truthfully, many of my family members are 70+ and we're getting to that time when there are a lot more funerals than there are weddings. Sigh.

My mother has one sister still living, Aunt Roni is 71 and still works full time. Mom's brother passed away years ago.

Three of Dad's sisters are still living. Aunt Betty is 69 and still works at Ferris State in the food service department, she just had surgery to clear a carotid artery and seems to be back at nearly full speed. Aunt LulaBelle (Midge) is 74 and has been at death's door for at least 20 years, LOL, but she does have emphysema. Aunt Ellen is 67 and seems to still be going at full speed.

And Elery's stepmom, Frances? She had that triple bypass a couple of weeks ago, she's in rehab now and they say maybe she can go home next week. At 80!! His Dad is 85, so we'll see, I don't know how he can possibly take care of her.

Lots of elderly relatives, that much is certain.....

My mom's siblings are entirely gone - all heart disease. My dad's side is pretty strong.

My gawd Annie...it never rains but it pours. You're right tho, with a lot of elderly relatives round, this is what life brings. I don't have any older relatives and haven't for so long I can't imagine what it's like. Come on Marty...give em a big surprise! and get well and pinch a nurse. Love you Annie...Maureen

Maureen, you must know about those retired Army sergeants, they're going to go on their own schedule.

The doctors are apparently amazed and just elated with Uncle Marty's progress, they gave him a stent or a shunt, Aunt Donna doesn't know which, LOL, and he came through against all predictions and continues to surprise them all.

He tells me that he's not ready to let me go it alone yet and the doctors just don't know what the h*ll they're talking about if they think he's going anywhere before he's ready.

He's still in the hospital, but now the doctors are talking about letting him go home, something they didn't even consider before.

It appears that Martin Conley Traynor, Sr., is still doing things on his own schedule, and with the help and prayers of the Cooking Forum may very well leave the Meijer Heart Center as soon as next week.

Thanks to everyone for all the prayers and good wishes, not everyone believes it but I know it makes a difference.

Annie, will keep your Uncle Marty in my prayers! I know how it is. My Mom is 83 years old, I take her medicine to her twice a day. DH's Mom is 79 and in good health and mind, but she doesn't think so. It is just a struggle at times.

Gotta love 'em! Glad he still has that fighting spirit.
