I am having problems with FF and found this thread - I am completely out of the news loop so had heard nothing about Java problems so...hope you can help. I have a mac running 10.6.8. In the middle of watching netflix last night I got an error message saying that Java plug in was disabled and to enable it and restart FF. I checked everything and it was enabled, I disabled my ghostery, etc. Nothing made a difference. Today I tried an update to java and downloaded that (found by check for updates on my mac menu). still didn't fix it. So I found this thread and decided I would uninstall the whole thing. I found directions on FF about how to uninststall Java. But when I seach my mac for JavaAppletPlugin.plugin I get nothing, nowhere. If I just search for Java, I get dozens of hits, but none of them for the applet plugin. I went back and disabled it, but am wondering what to do now. How can I uninstall it if I can't find it? As Firefox now seems to come with the Google toolbar why would you want Yahoo? Just curious of course. I do not allow any of those toolbars to clutter up my valuable viewing space. I drag the space where I type my Google query up to the right of the address bar and leave the rest of the toolbar off entirely. This space also has a small drop down menu to the left of it offering my the option to use Google, Yahoo and 4 other features if I need. Regarding the Jave Console I do not have one but I do have Java installed.

you only want the latest one so yes you can safely remove them. You might want to get start up lite by the makers of malwarebytes and take a look at your start ups and make adjustments using start up lite. StartUpLite you can also go to start> all programs> mozilla and choose the option to start firefox in safe mode to see if any of your add ons etc would be affecting it if so you can then try enabling them one at a time. If you do not use the secunia tool to check for needed updates I would do that also. Secunia Online Software Inspector what antivirus program are you using?

I was just sitting close to the computer & my mail popped on.. I checked & it is working again.. at least mostly. it isn't loading java in my java game. I checked in control panel & it says I have the latest Java. That is where this whole problem showed it's ugly face 1st. I also don't have the latest FireFox. Where is the best place to download that. One other problem I see is my ZoneAlarm has an arrow & says update is running. It was like that when NOTHING worked. I have no idea what is going on. I was ready to get it formated Monday.. wonder if that is still a good idea but I sure hate to think of all the work getting things back. I only have 19.7 GB of free space in drive C so afraid to add much to it. I have a lot of free space in drive E. If I want to install something can I put it on drive E? I don't think so. When I was gonna have it formated I was gonna have them take out the partition. What is going on with my computer? OH yes, I scanned & don't have a virus. Dar
