remember my backsplash...

Well a few weeks ago..I found "it"...

and did this..at first it was going to be just behind the sink and on that wall...well I sent hubby back to get more tile sheets, so I could do all the counter top back splash around the whole kitchen..LOL The whole backsplash around the kitchen is level in height to what you see here.

It's 1" glass tiles in a chocolate brown, a rusty brown and tan..then the grout is called Sahara Tan..pretty much matches the tan tile. These colors are also in my Corian counter top.

Ah! That is the same as the one I fawned over for 6 months from the Electrolux commercial, the one where she throws the cake in the air and it lands in the fridge. Oh well, I didn't go that route and I love my backsplash. Still, it is a relief to finally know what it is! Thanks BKW!

Thanks for all the nice words--now I just have to wait a couple more days for the tiles guys to come back and reinstall my shelf brackets over the tile, and install a utensil rail over the range--and THEN I can call this project done! (and focus on finishing the long unfinished BATHROOM project.... :) ) cotehele--my faucet is from Harrington Brass (I bought it at qualitybath.com) --it was one of the few options for a wall mounted faucet with side spray, so I went with it even though I couldn't find many reviews of the brand. I initially had some problems with the lever/button thing on the hand spray kind of sticking--hard to press--but the company quickly sent me a new hand spray and I've had no problem since. I really like having the wall mount faucet (so easy to wipe off the countertop now)--and I definitely like having the side spray, too--so a good combination for me.

OK - I have been wracking my brain trying to think of "something" to do behind my range. I'm getting a range with micro above, so there's not tons of room, and I wanted something a little different. Just curious: what are your opinions on using a monogram like this. I think I really like it. We'll be here a while, so re-sale isn't really a big concern, but do you think someone would come in and be totally turned-off by an initial that's not their's? Is it something that can be easily changed out? The monograms look sort of fancy, but for some reason I feel like it would go in my very not-fancy kitchen. Thoughts? Thanks - SQ

Your gingham duvet is charming. Please don’t let your dogs tell mine that they are allowed on furniture. My current dogs live under the new regime of no dogs on the bed and I’m loving it. I previously used a sheet to protect the duvet but fine dirt sifts through and it always looked terrible. The bedskirt still suffers where the bros rub up against it. The only breaking of the law is when Ronnie is ready for breakfast ands puts his front paws on the bed to yawn, stretch, and announce the time.

I agree, do you travel? Looks great! You sure do get a lot done while taking care of those boys and DH. Not to mention the dog, garden, sports, school...man I'm gettin' tired just thinking about it.

Terri that looks really good! If I recall, you were thinking of some brighter coloured tiles before? These look so sharp, great job!

Yes Janet..I had some 3 or 4" tiles picked out some that matched the wall, plus black, a white and maybe a golden color..but I just couldn't figure out how to mix them up and how much more of the "base" colors to use than the "accent" colors..and I wasn't really sold..
I wanted something that would blend with everything but the wall color,,,but including the current wall color..LOL get it? Anyway, it had to work with the cabinets and counter top most of all...Just in case I ever decided to change the wall color. :o)

David and Brenda, I don't have time to travel..but given a good bribe I might be able to swing it..

Oh and I did the adhesive and tile sticking on a Sunday afternoon, while Dad was changing the oil in his car and washing the vehicles..the boys were buzzin about, in out and at the park...

I then did the grouting on the following Thursday...it took me the better part of the whole day while they were all gone!!!
