My Firefox with AdBlock takes care of them, and I never see any ads!

All I have been getting are Nutella ads ever since I posted a thread about it.

At work I am stuck with IE, at home Firefox blocks most ads.

I get ads showing a finger writing in the dust (and whatever disgusting things are in there). It's annoying.

I am afraid to mention the name of a product or I will get ads for it. That is P-L-E-D-G-E and I am getting one for Y-O-P-L-A-I-T!

The only popups I get on my computer, and I use Safari on my Mac, are for that mail order movie rental place that starts with an 'N' and ends with an 'x'. I will never, ever, ever, use their business. I don't get those popups on this website, though.

dedtired - Does that really work? In which case I really hope I don't start getting the Playtex bra ones again because of this post. I'd really hate to start seeing PLAYTEX bra models again.

Yes I am getting the soup pop up and yes I have a blocker so it found its way around it. I wish these companies realized this is a way to really make you HATE their product actually.

I'm now avoiding Campbells, Pledge, Playtex, Netfl!x, Classmates.com and some random company that tells me I need to update my system! LOL

I sure hope they don't start creating pop-ups for vegetables, grains and lean meat.........I'll starve to death!!

I don't get the ad at home (AOL), but I manage to get it at work, through a pretty good firewall, on IE.

That's what gets me. These companies are finding ways around the blockers. Now, where's the logic in that? If you have a blocker turned on, that means you don't want the ads. If they force the ads on you, then you're certainly not going to buy their product. I just don't understand their logic, or lack thereof.

I enjoy the FREE service that this forum provides. As such I don't mind the minor inconvenience of occasionally having to close a pop-up.

I've heard that a while back iVillage sold subscriptions, and a benefit to subscribing was that you wouldn't see ads. Well, obviously THAT didn't pay the bills.

Maybe the pop-up ads cost more than the side-bar ads? I don't know, but if so I say "Thank you, Campbell's!"

I do boycott Campbells though, because they try to kill me with sodium. But that's another story altogether.

I absolutely do not mind the ads that appear on the top and side of the screen here at CF/i-Village. I totally understand that they underwrite the FREE services here. I often shop and purchase products from the advertisers. I don't mind commercials on TV either, within reason. What I don't understand is why someone would think that an ad (the same ad over and over mind you) popping up every single time you open a page here, in front of the screen and blocking the use of the Web page is a positive PR move for your firm. I feel the same way about commercials, while I don't mind them, at their current level they have gotten out of hand. I have actually been driven away from TV viewing by it, I only get PBS on my antennae tv and after a brief flirt with cable have settled on Netflix along with YouTube and other video streaming services as an alternative. And yes, they have ads, even PBS. It's not the ads that bother me, it's their delivery.

I wouldn't mind if it popped up ONCE, but every time I go from reading a thread back to the main Conversations page???
That's annoying.
I don't mind the side or top bar ads either. Can't say as I buy the products, but only because they aren't for things I use. I, too, appreciate the free service here and understand the advertisers are what allows it to be so.

Now, the ad seems to have stopped. Strange.
See, just long enought to annoy me, then nothing. LOL

I downloaded Firefox onto my work laptop while I had it at home. Didn't take long for IT to remove it. Sigh.

Now I have the friggin' soup can!

My pop-up was Nutella for a couple days. Now it's chunky soup again. And the playtex girls are posing in the side-bar. I guess they really do track what you write, I hadn't seen them in a while and then right after my comment above there they are again!

They're baaaaackckkkkk...

Off to find Firefox........
