Oh my, that is just so hard. My cousin leaves in a day or two for Afganistan with the Canadian military. He too leaves two little ones, the newest just over a month old. He should be very proud of his service.

I will include him in safe prayers.

Yes, it is hard when a loved one is so far away. But please send him a message that we at the CF are all on the watch for and with him. And let him know how very proud we are of him for serving his country.

Be strong for him and DD for he is stronger than many of could ever be.

I try to frequently think about the sacrifices these men and women make and the impact it has on their families. The last thing I want to do is take their service for my family and me for granted. My family and I are so grateful to them. My brother is still being impacted by his three tours of Viet Nam.

I will add your SIL to my daily prayers for every soldier, sailor ,army or airman in service to this country. My youngest son is in that list since he is in the U. S. Navy.

It's been a pretty horrible couple of days for them, especially him, since the Army, in it's wisdom has them sit and wait, for hours and hours and hours, in their room, then on the loading ramp prior to boarding the plane. Neither he nor my DD were prepared for how awful this would be. Lots of tears from everyone.

Adding my thoughts, prayers, and thanks to him and all that are serving in their countries military. Man, it's hard to send them off.....

How awful for your family. What a brave young man. I only hope he knows how proud we are and how grateful that he and others in the military keep us safe. I will keep him in my thoughts.

My brother got back in August, and I know the anxiety of having a loved one deploy, and the joy of his safe return.

I'm another who is grateful for the service and protection of these brave men and women and proud of them for their choices.

Elery's nephew, Nathan, came home a couple of months ago, promptly "re-upped" and went back, he says what we are doing there is so important that he wants to continue to help. It's hard to let them go, and all we can do is wish them back safely when it's time.

My thanks to him & all of those in service-- I'll add him to my prayer list. Think good thoughts-- many come home unharmed -- our Marine GSIL just arrived back from his 4th deployment over there.
