Thanks for responding, Nancy & Annette! I've always especially liked the Winter Olympics - used to watch it w/my Mom who was brought up in NH and skiied to school, 20 miles, uphill both ways, barefoot! :o) I never did master skiing, despite best efforts, and she's gone now, but is still watching w/me, I'm sure! Couple of other tidbits that draw me to the Winter Games .... I worked for/with a former US Olympic Gold Medalist and learned much about the IOC workings from that perspective. Also had a front row seat for many of the changes that have taken place over the years. My 'boss' was and still is a total purist separating amateur from professional athletes with a meat cleaver, albeit it a meat cleaver in a velvet glove. Back to the current time .... Much of my family lineage hails from Canada. Well, the eastern side (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick) and while I know that's as different as Maine is from Oregon here in the States, I still identified with the commentary. And it underscored my pathetic lack of knowledge about our closest and bestest neighbor. My only venture into Canada was a Niagara Falls loop US to Canada and back out, decades ago on a road trip (classic tourist stuff). As for the events, I watched hours of snippets - never did see a curling match! - and missed large chunks of the opening and closing ceremonies (either fell asleep or had to wrangle a mis-timed phone call). Nonetheless, I sooooo enjoyed and shared your country's pride and wonderful execution of the event. Thanks, again! :o)

Yes, My husband passed on Jan. 31. He had suffered from a broken hip and then everything went downhill quickly from there. Pneumonia, heart attack, renal failure, bladder infection, UT infection. We had his Memorial service on Valentine's Day evening at our church. Preservice Music started at 6:00, 6:30, Bro. Ronnie , opening comments and prayer Deb. M. recited a poem I wrote for Bob titled "Since Yesterday: Music, "Dancing With the Angels" Bro. Ronnie - Message and spoke of his relationship with Bob Music - Amazing Grace done by Il Divo at the Roman Coliseam complete with Bagpipe music which is traditional for a retired firefighter. Music - Bro. Ronnie and his brother Robert sang "When God Ran" Bro. Ronnie, closing remarks Me, with a special reading of something that had been layed on my heart about grief and how God Can use it to do something good. Music - Oh my my, I'm a gonna fly up to see my Jesus".. the entire congregation participated... It was uplifting and celebratory. No typical funeral type music at all. Altogether it really helped me look at Bob's passing with more of a positive attitude and it gives me the "want to's" to just move forward doing what God wants me to do each and every day.... I have many moments of crying, aching from missing that ol codger so dang much, but then I remember that he is now in the arms of Jesus .... and what better place could anyone every wish for??? I will eventually feel some semblance of normalcy again, but for now I feel as if I have been innoculated with a massive dose of novacaine... I am numb with grief, but hopeful for moving forward and looking forward to the day when I will be called home and reunited with my beloved Bob. Thank you for asking. Carolyn

You're very welcome! It's always nice to see a kitchen start coming together that I've helped work on...even if it's just a little! I wouldn't worry about about the slow progress...even with a GC doing our kitchen & DR, it took almost 6 months b/c of delays, scheduling, etc. (We're not very experienced DIYers so we didn't feel qualified to do it ourselves...) Good luck with the cabinets...it sounds like a great situation! If you can't order add'l cabs, come on back here & I'm sure we'll come up with something for you! Keep us posted on your progress...and good luck!

I inquired with Don about Tricia's health status and he replied this morning:

"Tricia is healing slowly - it's three steps forward and two steps back. She is still mostly bed ridden.
I have accepted a new position in Philadelphia. We will be moving to NE section of Philly for the next couple of years. If any of the forum members are from that area and they have recommendations on doctors pls have them email us or call us. Tricia would appreciate the call."

Oh no! I'm really dismayed that she's not up and around yet. I think it's for the best that they relocate to a larger city with greater access to good medical care and a living situation where Don can come home every night.
