PDF files not showing up

I need an assist.....The girls bought a cd that has children's songs. On THEIR computer, when you open the cd, it shows three folders:

MacInstaller

PCInstaller

PDFs

The PDF files are lyrics to the songs.

The play-list of the actual songs does not appear.

On MY computer it shows all the play-lists (in .cda form) but does NOT show the three folders mentioned above.

Both pc's will play the songs on the disc.

Any idea of "why" the difference in how this cd opens on the two pc's?

I have Adobe reader v. 8 and they have v.5 and/or v.6 (I think).

In other words, had they not gotten mad at my computer (I didn't have the sound turned on) and fired up their laptop, they would not have even found the lyrics to print off for school.

I've looked and looked and asked some people and have not gotten an answer.

Any ideas?

They have XP-Pro and I have XP-Home and all the folder options under "view" are the same.

Well one theory (read as utter guess work LOL)is that either the CD is quite old and your Adobe Reader is not backwards compatible that far back. Or right the opposite, this is a very new CD and their older Adobe only recognises part. Reading the fine print on the CD sleeve or box might give you a clue.

You could download and try Foxit Reader linked below. This is a totally free program many of us use that does not have the bloat accompanying Adobe.

..I checked the cd and it is dated 2007. Perhaps I did not make myself clear but the files do/don't show up in Windows Explorer. If I could SEE the PDF's, I'm sure I could open them.

I've asked a few computer guru's and they've all been stumped as well. I WILL post the answer if/when I ever find out anything.

............ not those I make up myself. I think I can do those with no problem. ..... If you can create a PDF file then use the same program to open this one. Most of us have just the simple PDF reader as we do not need to create PDF files. If you cannot open it then the pictures can be had by taking a screen shot and editing it in your photo editing program. Place the photo where it is fully visible then tap the 'Print Scrn' or 'PRN SCRN' key next to your F12 button. Open your photo editor, right click in the work space then click Paste in the pop up. Crop to your liking and name it.

Thanks mikie! I went to the search page and didn't take long to get a headache. I think this is going to be way out of my realm. First I changed a Word document into a pdf file and now I gotta embed it back into a html page. When I add the file to an html page, all I get is the page with my background scheme showing. Somehow, this was not what I had in mind. I know it's possible because I see it every day, but I'm just not smart enough to figure it out.Thanks again! Ida

Need app that will cut and paste a crossword out of a PDF file.

I use the screen capture utility Picpick for things like that. It is recommended on gizmo's site. Push the print screen key and it opens, select capture region and hold down the mouse key to draw a rectangle around the puzzle and you can print it, paste it, save it or other options.

When I attempt to print a pdf file using the Mozilla File:Print there is a selection in the lower left of the print screen that allows you to "Print to file." Why printing to file doesn't occur for you with other types of files is peculiar. Your brand of printer may have other choices, that mine do not. Suggest you divulge more secret info, like operating system, printer name, etc.

Ah, sorry I thought you meant the files failed to show when the auto start kicks in on the CD. Strange indeed that 2 computers read the contents differently from Windows Explorer.

I think I might try copying the whole CD to the hard drive on both computers and compare notes, even burn another CD perhaps.
