Recommendations for Home copier

We're looking to get a small, inexpensive, home copier without all the bells and whistles. I've done a google search and they all seem to be printers/scanners/copiers/faxes combination.

Does anyone know of a machine that just copies? We can settle for the combo if necessary, but would prefer just a machine that copies without costing an arm and a leg.

I had a Canon years ago and couldn't say a bad thing about it. Their current home model is $150 MSRP. Just think about what you're copying. Most of the small, inexpensive ones only do letter sized paper and smaller. Also the ones where the glass moves are very inconvenient if you want to copy from something like a book.

$5,299 Would that be over the budget! Probably doesn't include paper.

You might find this post about Fertilizng Plants Grown in Containersto be of interest. It is much easier growing plants in pots when using synthetic fertilizers than when relying on organic soil amendments (aka organic fertilizers) as the source of your plant's supplementary nutrition. The primary reason is, you have near complete control over what your plant gets and when it gets it in terms o nutrition; whereas, nutrients locked in organic hydrocarbon chains must be acted upon by soil biota in order to reduce hydrocarbon molecules into lesser forms of matter capable of being absorbed and utilized by plants. Since populations of soil biota essential to reduction of hydrocarbon chains are in constant and wide degree of flux insofar as their numbers and activity level, the important parts of nutritional supplementation, 'when'/ 'which'/ 'how much', nutrient availability is highly variable.

The brown and cream doesn't go with the gray roof. If the rot is minor, you might just replace the rotten bits and paint. I might choose a slatey blue with that roof and the cream brick. You can replace the porch roof with a metal roof. With the current colors, a copper roof would look really good. It looks like you have some thriving Rhodos. I bet they are gorgeous in bloom. If you just bought the house I'd wait to see them in bloom and then trim them back a bit.

Well, we pass through our bath to get to our closet, and we don't have problems with humidity, wet floors, or mold. We live in a dry climate, we run the exhaust fan during and after we shower, we keep the floors dry, and we've never had mold. There is a wide diversity of opinion on this site about gong through a bathroom to get to a closet.. I don't design houses that way, but after living in this house for seven years I've come to realize it's not necessarily the problem it's made out to be. If an overall layout works better with the closet beyond the bath, then there's no good reason not to build it that way.

Great house and I like what you did with the cedar shakes. If I were trying to get the most curb appeal bang for the buck on a limited budget, as others have suggested I would focus on giving the front door more presence with a gabled portico, replacing the windows on the porch enclosure with something more appropriate/ cohesive with the rest of the house, and maybe bulking up some of the trim (including removing the siding under the lower level windows to the left and replacing with wood panels or maybe larger windows). However, I think painted brick can blend well with painted shakes (which is a not-altogether uncommon combo on older homes), so before giving yourself the headache/ expense of ripping off and replacing the brick, I would first try painting it the same color as the shakes and see how things look. I’m guessing the feel you are aiming for is a New England sorta-Shingle Style, where the barrel vault portico could make sense (fwiw there are porticos with gabled roofs and barrel vaulted ceilings). I kinda like that direction, as shingle style brings to mind ‘stately’/ timeless New England beachhouses that are less symmetrical, less formal and more eclectic than other revival styles.

Pay attention to zep516, I've got an 18-year-old Canon 1020 sitting here, still working just fine. However, obsolete and cost me thousands in 1992 dollars. Everything's better/cheaper today. If/when mine quits working, I'll likely look up Zep's post!

Consider a laser printer vice ink jet...Toner (dry ink) cartridge may cost more, but they are good for thousands of black and white copies...You may find a very cheap inkjet copier but spend a fortune on ink cartridges..
Got my Brother combo laser printer for about $130 at staples(here in Canada) Office Depot down south

FYI....I last re-filled toner on that Canon copier and on my old Brother laser-printer in July of 2004. (I keep notes) Both are still working fine. Something to be said for "toner technology".
