Vent-a-Hood vs. external/inline blower noise

Our GC has been recommending an external blower for our kitchen venting mainly to reduce noise. Based on our house, it looks like we'd have to do an inline blower, which would be located in the ceiling over a pantry next to the kitchen. (From an aesthetic standpoint this is fine). Regardless of what we do, the ducting will go the same way--so it's not like an inline blower allows us to do something different in terms of where it exhausts.

Anyway, talked to our appliance guy today, and he was pushing a Vent-a-Hood over an inline blower from Broan (with hood of some sort). He said the noise would be about the same, since VAH is pretty quiet as they go. He also said inline blower could be noisy and/or vibrate and we'd still hear it.

Any thoughts/experience on this?
