The annoying back button problem

I still have the problem on my desktop. My other computers work fine. I saw the latest note from GW regarding clearing the cache and cookies. I've done that many times and the problem persists.

What is the best way to clear the cache? I use the FF clear history button, use CCleaner to clean cookies. Is there something else?? (BTW, I didn't have to do any of these things on the other computers I use.)

Appreciate any suggestions from someone who cured this problem.

Just curious,
Does it work any better when you press the "Backspace" Key on your keyboard opposed to the back button?

FF - mozilla says that some mouse buttons may not work as they should if the device driver is too old -- and mentioned Logitech. Suggest checking to see if there is a newer driver for your mouse.

Hi to both Marys. Last year was my first time winter sowing. Had mixed results, but am back again this year with about 200 jugs planted thus far. Started in late Dec. and am still planting every time a trade or round robin comes in. It's not too late. Everything sprouts at it's own right time. I will start planting my annuals soon as our weather settles down abit. We are still getting snow and hail squalls here in Washington. Talk about your crazy weather. There's no sign of globle warming here. I have about 20 gallon jugs sprouted thus far. We are not crazy. Unless we're crazy like a fox. I will have at least 100 new types of perennials, shrubs and trees this year all for the price of some potting soil and a few stamps and bubble envelopes. Imagine what it would all cost if we bought those plants at a nursery. Connie

I believe it is the same problem many experience with self-cleaning ovens because we often have had it happen then. Failure after self-cleaning is caused to a thermal fuse blowing because the appliance overheats due to insufficient internal ventilation/cooling of the electronic controls, in which case the blown fuse must be replaced ... they do not auto-reset upon cooling. (One brand apparently has a thermal breaker instead of a fuse, which can be reset by pressing a button on the breaker but that still does not happen automatically.) Your problem likely is the control panel or main board behind it is breaking down upon exposure to thermal stress and/or humidity, then it "recovers" upon cooling/drying. Could be an erratic component on the board or bad solder joint.

Really annoying keyboard problem

Advice/suggestions from a layman: Control panel>mouse> open it up and do some changes then put it where you want it and try. Control Panel>keyboard . move those sliders around and check it out. Vacuum out the keyboard. I have a lap top, but I use a external mouse and keyboard as I have it set up similar to a PC. Not very portable, but it is seldom used outside my home. Grady

The back button - more annoying problems...

I've also had the problem with the scroll bar and hitting F5 didn't help, but the refresh button at the top brought it back. However, the pages load so slowly that I have to wait again for the page to refresh to get the scroll bar back, which is maddening. I've also had the log in repeatedly issue and sometimes have to hit the back button 3 or 4 times to return to the main page. I also just hit the "preview message" box and waited 4 minutes and 11 seconds. Then I hit the back button and came back here, so I can try again. It'll sometimes take me 10 or 15 minutes to open a thread, type a message, hit preview and then post. Sometimes I just give up before my message ever posts. Sigh. I was using the right click on the back button to get the drop down menu before this problem developed so it is not too annoying for me.

But the problem is still there, it has something to do with some versions of Firefox and Gardenweb.

Strange thing is my netbook and office desktop work fine, no backbutton problem. All had the same updates and version FF. Tried my husbands laptop and it works fine - same updates. All run XP. Nothing different that I can tell. The problem continues on my home desktop. I can't figure out what the difference would be. I don't think its the mouse as I use a wireless MS mouse.
