Duplicate IE sites loading

Every time I attempt to load Windows Internet Explorer it does it in duplicate. Thus it takes twice as long to accomplish everything. It is also confusing to know exactly where I am as I use the site.

try right clicking on the IE icon on your desktop and select open rather than double clicking to see if that makes a difference.

You might go into Control panel/Mouse and check the setting to see if anything has changed. Even consider visiting the mouse maker's site for the latest drivers.

What mouse do you have?

Ya that'd be easy enough but I'm tired of messing with it. Still, the IE8 works beautifully with the firewalls ZA and OA disabled. There must be some interaction there planned or otherwise. I installed the SlimJIm Browser or whatever it is which looks like its just an IE8 clone sort of. Easier to configure. Tho it's fast it is 1-2 seconds slower than FF7, Iron and google on my comp.

Connected to Internet, but can't load sites

Before you go spending money, let's try a few things. When you took your router to default, everything worked fine. When you use a pass phrase, you get to the internet but web sites don't load. I have a copy of your router manual in front of me so let's try a few steps. 1------Log onto your router 2------Under the wireless setup make sure the SSID reads NETGEAR 3------Make sure the operating channel for the wireless mode.is Auto. 4------ Leave the wireless mode set to the default setting of Up to 145Mbps for 2.4GHz. 5------ Select security options for the 2.4GHz wireless network.The wireless Security Options are set to None by default. 6-----use WPA2-PSK as your security option. 7----- enter the following as your passphrase wndr3400 make all letters lower case. Select APPLY at the bottom of the screen. Under DIAGNOSTICS, select the REBOOT option. Once the router reboots, close out all your screens and reboot you computer. When prompted for a passphrase enter wndr3400 all letters must be lower case. Please post back and let us know if that did the trick.

I am so very happy to have an old-school top loader again. My front loader finally bit the dust and we didn't even bother to try to have it fixed. It was here in the house when we moved in - we're kicking ourselves for paying extra to keep the set, we should have installed our old ones - and these were awful from day one. The first pain was the kamikaze clothing that leapt out from both washer and dryer when the door opened or you pulled something big out. It sucks that something you've just washed has to wait to get cleaned again. Plus, with a bad back, I didn't like bending down so far. It is infuriating that you need to spend extra money on those pedestals to raise them up, and laundry baskets won't fit under either door without them, so, again, when the door opens, things can hit the floor, which is horrible. The machines come out of the box with this huge flaw and you need to spend $150.00 minimum to make them work as they should. They should just be taller from the outset. Also, I like pulling things up out of the washer and then putting them straight into the dryer without having clean wet clothes go into a basket that has previously had dirty clothes in it. Then came the smell. Now it's possible that the previous owner pre-fouled the thing, but that gasket? Where water ALWAYS was? Yak. Mold city. No amount of bleach and cleaning would keep this thing clean. My clothing is now much cleaner after just a week of having a top loader again. I'm very sensitive to detergent left in fabrics, and mine are once again clean and my towels are far more absorbent. It's possible that a new machine, for way more money than I just paid for my new GE top loader, might be better, but we didn't want to spend that much and are happy to have the old style machine back.

If you are initiating IE from the Desktop you have to click twice on the icon.

If you are initiating IE from the Taskbar you only have to click on the icon once. If you click on it twice you will get two IEs.

Do I actually have two copies of IE on my computer? How could I check that? I looked at "add and remove programs" and it told me it would cause problems with several other things such as "Service Pack#....etc". There are 2 IE icons on my taskbara also.

icons on task bar or desktop are just shortcuts you can have multiple ones and not make a difference if you only want one just delete one of them it will only delete the shortcut not the actual program.

did you try opening it as I suggested? that would let us know if it is a click issue in opening the program double vs single etc.

I do this all the time, double click on the icon multiple times to open 2,3 or 4 IE. It's still only one program.

The purpose of opening multiple pages of IE using the icon? If you need a new tab, window, or session the offering is on the File drop down menu.

I don't understand your reply, DA. I don't want two copies on my screen. (As you can tell, I am not a computer-literate person). If I click only once on the icon, I still get two home pages. Everything is double.

Could you open the Task manager after you click on the IE Icon.

Look in there and tell us how many listings you see for ieexplorer.

My question was to Hendricus.

Just a lttle thought here as I dont see it probable:

Open up IE as you normally would, and as I understand you will observe two IEs. On one window click on Help>About. What version does it report? Change to the other window and do the same task. What does it report?

if you do not try the things we ask of you and report back nothing can get resolved.

IF 2 open then as soon as you see the second version starting to open hit the red x and close it.
If you would try using the right click open suggestion I have asked multiple times and report back that might help. several of the helpers here have asked you to do things and you have not replied with an answer to any of the suggestions yet, it becomes a frustration, we want to help so please help us help you, if you do not understand something just ask us how to do it.
