I think a lot of people are like me this time of year. I often run over here and just read the posts and try to catch up a bit, think I'll come back and post later, but .... time flies..

Lars, I was just thinking of you Sunday, driving by your old place on the way to the Roosterfish.

You've done a grand job with everything, not that this would surprise me in the least. I'm quite sure you're welcoming the extra space, the larger kitchen and that back yard definitely fits. More spacious than the old, but lush, private and cozy at the same time. I enjoyed the pictures you posted in the "purple" section as well.

Remember that you are still granted "reciprocity" to this area of town at any time. Let me know if you all decide to come over for the Abbot Kinney festival next month.

BTW I have never been to the Ladera Heights Target store, but I haven't typically cared much for the Culver City one either, although they seem to have stepped up their game a bit in recent times. What I'm really waiting for of course it so see the new Fox Hills store this fall, which I am not sure replaces or is in addition to the other Culver City location.

Coconut, I do understand about people being especially busy this time of year - it's sort of like trying to get the most out of the last part of the summer. I've noticed that I have to do my barbeques earlier in the day now, but I do plan to keep barbequing throughout the year, now that the back yard is more accessible.

Scott, I was planning to go to the Abbot Kinney Street Fair this year, but it will be strange since I lived on Abbot Kinney for 15 years and now am no longer there! We are also planning on going to the African Marketplace Faire on August 23 or so. I've always found great things to buy there. The Target store that I like is at the corner of La Cienega and Rodeo, just slightly SE of Culver City. I rarely go to Target, but if I do, that would be the one I would visit.

Mitch, I'm glad you appreciate the effort we put into and the results. It's still now over, however, and I especially appreciate your comment that it looks like we've been there a while. It was important to make the house ours, especially since we actually did meet the previous owners, which made it a bit strange. Plus we are getting some of their mail!

Ellen, maybe you will be able to visit my house at some point in the future. I'm still about half way between you and the South Bay girls, although I'm a bit closer to them now. I have to say that I now live in a boring neighborhood, however, at least compared to Venice! Kevin seems to like the quiet - I think the beach traffic was beginning to get to him. I don't miss the bike trails and all the accidents that I had there.

Lars you have a wonderful house and I'm glad to see you have a good-sized kitchen. You have room there to do some serious cooking. Much bigger than mine.
The garden as well looks spacious and private. I think you and Kev were so lucky to find such a good looking home.

Don't worry about few comments to your photos. It's a known fact that many more people will look at your post than will comment. That's one of the things I read before I started blogging. People like to skim through and read what's new, sort of like reading the newspaper in the morning. And very often with the thought, as coconut says, of going back and saying something later when all news has been read. But then life calls and one realizes that it's time to get on with the day and the comments are left for later, and unless the theme is calling for an immediate response, or one has time on their hands, the comments are somehow left. Not because your post is uninteresting or because people don't look. If you have a stats option on photobucket, you can see that many more people have looked at your photos than have commented, so don't take that as a measure of interest. It's the same all over the web.

And your photos from photobucket are showing up well.

Lars, I hadn't seen the LR pictures, but sure thank you for sharing them all. You have really settled in & it's obvious how much you two are enoying the house & garden. I was quite impressed with the number of hanging pots!

Sharon, I was able to tell that a number of people had viewed Kevin's videos because YouTube has a counter - and he didn't have many hits until I posted a link here. I can't be that worried about comments since I have so little time to make them myself!! I do expect things to settle down after a while, and then I will be able to comment more, however.

Kathleen, I used to have many, many more hanging pots when I first lived in Venice with my friend Bernard, who grew orchids. He had orchids hanging from every eave on the house, not to mention the ones he had hanging on the walls, one the walls, and on the ground! When he went on vacation to Vermont (and required me to water everything), I counted 80 orchid plants in the yard. It was all I could do to remember which ones had to be watered in the morning and which ones had to be watered in the evening, and how often! I did appreciate the results, but I could never take that on myself. I like to keep three or four orchids growing outside, but that's enough for now. I may get more later.

Lars your estate furniture was a great buy! I love the elegant and simple design of those chairs. The console and small table fit in perfectly with your decor.
The lamps are also just right for the setting. You've done really well with your finds!

Here's a picture of the dining room, once we got the table assembled. It looks a bit cramped, but usually there are only two of us. However, Kevin wants to have dinner parties, now that we can seat up to six. The table was in pretty good condition, but we cleaned it with Murphy's Oil Soad and 0000 steel wool and then oiled it, to remove a few bad spots in it. It didn't need sanding, although we might do that later to remove some of the scratches. It looks like Hans Wegner Danish Modern, but I believe it is a 1960s American copy, since the label under the seat of the chairs is in English, although it's very hard to read. Anyway, it's solid teak, which is what I care about. I'm going to reupholster the seats (when I get around to is) and add more padding, as they are a bit hard and have been reupholstered with cheap vinyl. I think I have enough black leather scraps to redo them - I certainly have enough zebra scraps to do them, but I think that might be a bit extreme - and not that comfortable.

We've had several nice dinners on this table already, and I've been much more inspired to cook more elaborate dinners.
