Hi to both Marys. Last year was my first time winter sowing. Had mixed results, but am back again this year with about 200 jugs planted thus far. Started in late Dec. and am still planting every time a trade or round robin comes in. It's not too late. Everything sprouts at it's own right time. I will start planting my annuals soon as our weather settles down abit. We are still getting snow and hail squalls here in Washington. Talk about your crazy weather. There's no sign of globle warming here. I have about 20 gallon jugs sprouted thus far. We are not crazy. Unless we're crazy like a fox. I will have at least 100 new types of perennials, shrubs and trees this year all for the price of some potting soil and a few stamps and bubble envelopes. Imagine what it would all cost if we bought those plants at a nursery. Connie

I've also had the problem with the scroll bar and hitting F5 didn't help, but the refresh button at the top brought it back. However, the pages load so slowly that I have to wait again for the page to refresh to get the scroll bar back, which is maddening. I've also had the log in repeatedly issue and sometimes have to hit the back button 3 or 4 times to return to the main page. I also just hit the "preview message" box and waited 4 minutes and 11 seconds. Then I hit the back button and came back here, so I can try again. It'll sometimes take me 10 or 15 minutes to open a thread, type a message, hit preview and then post. Sometimes I just give up before my message ever posts. Sigh. It gets worse and worse all the time. Annie

The Hebrews loved a good story, that was play on words. The word "ad-em-ah" in Hebrew was "dust" ... and someone said that God took some "ad-em-ah", "dust", blew some of His/(Her) breath into it, and it began breathing, and S/He called it "Ad-am" ... which carries a parallel meaning of "Mankind" ... or a person called "Adam": the first man. ole joyful

Roselee, The evergreen sumac is nice, though never thought we had space for one - don't they get pretty large? Sorry they didn't survive transplant well for you, but is good to know they don't favor moving if ever do get to pick a spot for one. Our 'Major Wheeler' gets full sun until ~3:00pm year-round. Have guessed that's likely why it gets much fuller than the yellow 'John Clayton' Lonicera sempervirens we have in considerably less light. Though both have dropped a lot of leaves and the late sporadic blooms since our mid-January hard freeze. Wantonamara, Okay - we do have a long enough extension cord, so if the sharpshooter doesn't cut it well, then the sawzall will. Thanks for the tip.
