I don't get any telemarketing calls on my cell, I am assuming it is like an unlisted number. I will be interested in the replies to this.

I constantly get calls from a 'restricted' which can't be traced as there is no #. I have tried working through Verizon and they can't help. It rings my phone at least 10 times a day. No one on the other end. It is so frustrating and annoying.

Anyone have a clue how to stop it?

Register at the national do not call registry.

If you have a smartphone there are apps that can send such calls directly to voicemail (or in some cases, just send a busy signal). In either case, your phone doesn't ring.

Of course, registering your phone with the national "Do Not Call" registry will help as well. Remember that the registry doesn't block everything:

Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you've provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request. You should keep a record of the date you make the request.

I registered our cell numbers as soon as the do not call list came out and we have never had any of those type calls on our cell phones. I also registered every other number we have including my fax.

I'm like RC my cells are registered too, personal and work. I did it way back when the list first came out, and it was not suppose to be for cell phones. I don't have any problem. I do get a rare spam text. The latest has been "call this number as you have won free gasoline". Yeah! Right!

Thank you for asking the question and thanks for the replies. I did not know you could do that for cells. I also did not know it had been improved to the point that one call is good for ever.

Having your cell number on the "Do Not Call" registry is no guarantee that you won't receive unwanted calls or texts. One night earlier this month, I received in quick succession 5 text messages, all from the same number and in Spanish, which I hardly read and do not speak. I was able to put a block on this number with my carrier. If a text message comes from an Internet source, you can put a block on all of this type. I just went to my Verizon website and was able to do this. I also contacted them by e-mail about the charges (I do not have a texting plan), and received an answer that my next bill will be adjusted. I think most carriers are anxious to keep you happy if they can (they should for what they charge! LOL).

The Do Not Call list does not work for all calls.

I am currently getting political survey calls at home AND on my cell phone. The DNC list does not prevent those calls.

Even my kids are getting them on their cell phones - ENOUGH ALREADY!!

All you have to do is ask them to take you off their list. I haven't had a telemarketer in years. As far as businesses go that I have done business with before I tell them to not call me, or I will never do business with them again. Actually I have never had a call from anyone I have had business with. Of course I have an unlisted number, that probably helps.
