Firefox problems on Mac

I'm having problems with Firefox on my mom's Mac.

A lot of times it won't open up links, some times it makes all pictures broken (it has the broken page thing appearing where the picture should show up), it's not showing videos, and some times it messes up site like Youtube. It makes it load as a list and without any videos showing up.

I also have spell checked installed on it and while it's underlining incorrectly spelled words in red, it won't show me correct spelling suggestions when I right click on the words.

I went into disk utilities and repaired the permissions and restarted the computer and it seemed to help with some of the problems but not others.

What should I do? If I have to end up uninstalling it, do I have to save my bookmarks somewhere?

I'm NOT computer savvy, even less so on a Mac so please explain things very simply! I don't follow things easily. Lol. Thanks.

Why not try safari browser for a while an see how you like it it sort of goes well with mac, when you do install it you should get an option to import bookmarks

I have iMac running leopard and Firefox 2.0.0.6. Never had any problem with Tiger or other Firefox versions either. Wondering if maybe you have some incompatibility with your versions. Can you say versions using?

Another place to look is free Mac Forum below. I've found good help and fast response times there. Better Mac-specific advice there than here.

Also, Safari does work fine. I've come to prefer it.

One website for which I use FF has been very slow to respond since the update to FF11. Now, today Firefox has updated to v.12, and all seems to be working just fine. No apparent reason for this, but I'm hoping FF12 will work the way it should.

I am having trouble with them also. It is a different problem, a problem none the less. My WOT and no squint will not work. If I use the no squint to color the background or change the font size on my pages the google search box in the center of the Mozilla Firefox Start page disappears. I was downloading 2 things when it disappeared right before my eyes. Windows defender update and an windows update. This has happened on both of my computers and it really has me stuck. I had that problem on a couple of GW-uploaded pics. I temporarily disabled AdBlocker and could see them. I have it enabled now and not having any problems. If ads are the price to pay to see pics then I'd rather not see pics.
