Anyone else having problem with Firefox?

I haven't been able to access Firefox all day today. I called my ISP and they said Firefox was down and to use Internet Explorer. IE is so slow for me and I don't have my bookmarks.

I wonder if it's the version you're using that's having problems. I'm still using Firefox 3 and no problems here.

Mistake in buying a GE Cafe Range. The range pauses cooking because an error message reads the oven door is open, which it is not. A GE service technician came out the first time, inspected it for 5 minutes and ordered a new control panel. Another technician arrived to install the control panel, performed a diagnostic and said it was not the control panel, that the system was not calibrated upon installation. He reset the controls but did not install the control panel. Tried the oven again, same problem. It will preheat to desired temperature, food is placed in the oven to cook, THE DOOR IS CLOSED, but 5 minutes later it pauses cooking "because the door is open". Frustrating. There is nothing in GE's troubleshooting guide to give any assistance. Another call to GE to send a third service technician. Anyone else experience this issue?

I've had the same problem with the Pantene ad and it covers the whole screen and I can't make it go away. What's up, GardenWeb? I am fine with the ads that just stay to the side. I know people need to advertise. Also, I can type messages fine here, but when I go on the GardenWeb Round Robin I can't see what I type in the message box as I type. In fact there is about a 3 min. delay before it appears! Almost too long to wait. Both of these issues make it hard to stop in and check boards or post when you have limited time to do it. I hope it all gets straightened out. Both of my problems started when the new background appeared - which I happen to like - but I don't like the problems! Jeanne

Here's the latest request I sent: Myself and many other Apple Safari users are having an issue with the GW site. Here are four OT threads I started in different forums on GW asking if I was the only one with the problem. I'm not. There are many of us and it seems your solution is instead of using our Safari browsers, we should switch to Chrome (Those on an IPAD can NOT use anything other than Safari!) Why are you not willing to look at the problem many of us Apple Safari users are having. Sorry but telling us to switch to Chrome (which is not even possible when using the IPad is not the answer!) Here is what happens. When I click onto a forum everything is usually fine. If I start clicking on the threads, and then click back to the forum, I get the blue box. (See attachment labeled Screen Shot 2017-05-20 and see red arrow pointing to blue box) Apparently I didn't realize this, but I also get a gray lined box around the outside of the threads that go down about 12-14 threads (See green arrow pointing to the line). Anything within that gray lined box, meaning the top 12-14 threads can not be clicked on. Nothing happens. Anything below that gray box can be clicked on. (See attachment labeled Screen Shot 2017-05-24 which shows the bottom of the gray lined box.) A company that cares about its users will not just say tough luck and switch to something else. They will find a solution. I have contacted the website request but to no avail as they tell us to switch to Chrome or it's a problem with our browser. I don't have that problem but I don't have Safari (or a Mac). I suspect the blue square with white question mark indicates an image which isn't displaying. Of what, I don't know. Since you're losing the ability to click links, perhaps the image would overlay the entire page if it were to display. If so, I would bet you also lose the ability to scroll? If you right-click the square, do you get any clues? Myself, I'd probably try resetting Safari. Of course since you have the same problem on two machines it likely won't help but it's easy enough to try, won't hurt, and might help. Did you have the same problem before you updated Safari on the newer machine? If not, it might be a bug in the latest Safari. Does the problem occur using another browser such as Firefox? Firefox (Apple Store) I'm not a tech, just a regular user, so what I've written are just my initial thoughts/hunches/guesses. Hopefully someone else can be more helpful.

No problem here. What version are you using? I have 3.6.20, and I got a message a few minutes ago that v 3.6.21 is available. I was busy then, so I'll get it after awhile

I am running Firefox version 6.0.1 with no problems.

You guys sure don't update much!

I have 6.0.1 and couldn't use it yesterday. I rebooted, no luck. I did a system restore. No luck. I reinstalled FF and it finally started working for me.

Firefox has become a problematic browser, but I don't see how they can say it's "down"! Sounds like someone who had no idea what they were talking about.

I'm a little tired of Firefox and their rapid fire updates trying to just up their version number to compete with other browsers. Then they break compatibility with a bunch of the extensions (many of which should be part of the stupid browser in the first place) and you have to keep working around that or wait a month or two for the extension to be adapted.

Firefox has moved down to #4 on my browser list, just barely above the Internet Elephant. I grudgingly updated to v5 and after the hassles I went through to get a few of the extensions to work with that version I said no more of this. Too much time spent on a patchwork quilt piece of software. Now theyre trying to force more updates on it and I've read enough bad stuff about it, I'm not changing until they get their act together and get something worked out.

No wonder I stay with Opera! Smaller, more features, faster, less hassles... No comparison.

I installed Firefox a couple of years ago, and it promptly dumped all my Favorites.

I'm not feeling the love.

I took Cynic's advice to dump Firefox. I switched to Google Chrome. Wow! That was easy. It even imported my favorites from Firefox for me. Thanks everyone for the advice.

I updated to version 5 when it came out and it crashed several times a day so I upgraded to 6 and it STILL crashes several times a day. I'm updating a newer computer this week so I won't have this one much longer.

I don't really understand what has happened to Firefox. It's rather unusual of the open-source projects. It's become a stereotypical "committee project"! OpenOffice has always had the direction, the focus and the drive to get there and improve. K-meleon is stable, basic and progressing. Firefox, since about version 3 seems to have lost sight of things, almost like the committee is arguing on which way to go with it. Although it's more of the "amateur techy nerd geek wannabe" browser, great for people who like tinkering, don't mind reloading their computer every day or two and don't mind the pile of tv dinner trays falling over their computer in Mom's basement!

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of open source and I like the basic concept of Firefox, but they've just lost their way. When they were just copying Opera as much as they could they made great strides. Now, it's a patchwork quilt that's losing its stitches. Seems like they're more concerned on the extensions than making a good, functional browser. Sad, really.

I'm using it less and less. Haven't even opened it in days. I refuse to to the update until they get some things straightened out. I use a bunch of the extensions to make it tolerable and am not going to have them broken up again. I just don't use Firefox on any site I feel needs more security, although I usually wouldn't anyway.

I shudder when I hear people give the ole pat answer to preventing popups. First, get Firefox......

I am on Firefox(6.0.2) all day, and many evenings and have never had any of the problems described here.
Perhaps it's an incompatibility with your OS?
Is it an older one? Like XP or Vista?

I'm running on Windows 7.

We haven't had any problems with Firefox, I'm using 6.0.2 like Monica. We have our own servers and T-1 at work and fiber optic at home, but even with the firewalls we run software checking for spyware & viruses daily and sometimes oftener. My grandson played some games on the internet on my computer and when he was finished, I ran a check and there were 158 pieces of spyware and adware. That will cause problems. Also I have noticed a major increase in Email that supposedly comes from friends of mine wanting me to click on some link.
