I used to be much more active. I may be an example of why we as a group aren't as active now. rhizo made a valid point that this is a slow time of year for citrus. Those of you in the north have your trees indoors and my in-ground trees are mostly dormant although a few of my trees beg to differ. I was more active when I first got started and had bookoos of questions and was just posting photos of my trees for the first time. Now, I post once in a while but most of you have seen all there is to see of my trees. I'm also spreading my time into some other activities now that I have most of my citrus needs figured out. It's always been a great and very active forum and most of us still come through here now and then, just don't have anything newsworthy to share yet. That being said, I was shocked Friday when I walked by one of my Ponderosa lemons and saw little purple leaves sprouting....almost certainly will get frozen if we get the cold snaps we always get in February. It's been sooooo mild here this "winter" that I have an avocado growing outside that came up from a seed I tossed out with other compost under my kumquat tree. My calamondin is also unaware that it's February. It's smack in the middle of a rather large burst of blooms.

Hello, We have an older Sony CRT with no HDMI cables. I have a Zoom brand cable modem connected, via a cable, to an Apple wireless rounter (A Base Station, they call it.) This gives us wireless internet in the house. I have a Roku box connected to video inputs on the TV. This is the old three color system, with white red and yellow pin inputs. The cables for this were in the box with the Roku. The Roku has wireless capability so it works off of the router signal when just plugged into the TV and the power source. We do need to switch between video feeds on the TV to get to the Roku, but this is a simple matter of pressing a button on the TV remote. If you have something like "video 1, video 2, video 3" selections and you only get a blank screen, those inputs are marked as such on the back of your TV and you can use them. If you only have one set of these, you may have to swap out the cables if your DVD player uses the inputs. This might be a good argument for getting a Netflix enabled DVD player or game console. If your DVD player is a good one and you can't see spending the money, you should consider the Roku. The base model today is $59.99 at Roku.com. The website lets you see the back of the device, so you can check out the input areas to see if it matches what you have on your TV. They are very backward compatible in general, so I'm sure you won't have problems there. I bought the XD model ($79.99) for when we upgrade to a better 1080p HD in a couple years, plus it supports the wireless "N" protocall which is the newer, fastest level of wireless and it matches our router. I may have wasted $20.00 because we don't use the internet while watching the Roku and my guess is with the way HDTVs are developing, our future TV will have Netflix ability built into it and we won't need the roku box. Oh well! All it might take for you to get up and running on DSL: call your provider company and ask them for a wireless DSL modem. You might be able to get one for free from them. This will give you wireless in the house and your Roku box will be up in a jiff. When we had DSL we had the wireless router and were happy with it. There was an initial problem with not being able to acess the internet while on the wireless phone, but that is a setting on the modem that can be changed with a quick call to your provider. It is a simple fix and they walk you through it. As to the bandwidth issue go to www.speedtest.net and check your speed it is easy and free. You might be able to research your speed and see how this effects others with Netflix. Just a thought. To give you courage, (if you need it!) go to Youtube and search "set up Roku on DSL," or "set up Roku." Peolpe have made some quick video's of themselves doing this and you'll see how simple it really is. Good luck with it all! We love streaming Netflix. You're very welcome! Glad to be of help. When you paste into Works, see if under Edit, if there's a "Paste Special" option. If so choose "Plain Text" or wording close to that. It's been a long long time since I've used Works and I greatly dislike the program for several reasons so I can't be more specific there. Or just drop it into a text file then recopy it. happyday's examples are (part of) why Firefox has moved down consistently in my browser choices. (It took them 10 years to get Paste & Go as a part of the browser fer cryin out loud! LOL) Back in the early versions it was my backup browser to Opera but I've never found it functional enough to make it my first choice and it went downhill for several versions though they seem to have plateaued a bit. I still stick with Opera as #1. It's far more refined and professional. Even with the mail client and other features built in it's still smaller, lighter and much faster than Firefox. You can configure it in so many ways, skin it if you want and much more. I'm spoiled with the keyboard shortcuts and it drives me crazy when I use any other browser now - I hit X & Z and other shortcuts and of course they don't work. Firefox is too geeky and patched together, being a committee project (where committee members aren't focused) and accordingly it requires constant updates and modifications and you have to add extensions to it to get basic performance though I will say some are interesting for other features. I simply want to use a browser with minimal fuss (Really pretty silly to have to put 25 extensions onto a browser to have it perform as a browser should "out of the box") and I do like the larger screen area on Opera and ability to configure to each user's needs. My second choice is K-meleon, third is Chrome. I've tried Safari but that's a very basic browser too from what I've seen and don't need another of them. I still use Firefox for the webmail check but Chrome now has the same/comparable extension so Firefox might just get retired altogether from my systems. I don't automatically load it on new systems anymore. Don't get me wrong, I like the open source concept and OpenOffice is proof of what can be done with open source. Just seems like too much bickering going on with the Firefox folks and there's no focus to the project. Which reminds me, instead of using Works, get OpenOffice. Far more functional, it's free and has a lot of compatibility with Microsoft Office that Works does not have. Far better choice than Works. It also has the paste special feature. It's an excellent program. I only use (therefore only set up) the "writer" (word processor) portion since I don't need spreadsheets often or the other items. Whenever I set up computers for clients I remove Works if it's on there to save myself support issues! It's really bad news IMO. OpenOffice, Opera, Comodo, etc are all on the essential list of software and get loaded up when I set them up. But I digress! Incidentally the encoding thing should work in any browser. I thought I said that but it sounds like I might not have made that clear to everyone. Just to clarify. Hope your browsing is much clearer now with less extraneous characters!

kroer2016 I'm thinking that the furniture and accessories is available for purchase by the homeowners, but it really is just for staging. I agree about the budget. It always ends up that they misquote because they conveniently find something major wrong. I would never agree to such a purchase without a home inspection and knowing ALL the details possible up front. ******************************************************** Yes, the finished hse is staged for the show and HO's can purchase the items if they chose. If Jo commissions something from a vendor like Clint, that is a gift from FU Curious, other than a piece of furniture, does anybody know what the HO's appearing on the show get financially? On HH Reno, they get $25,000 towards the reno. I'll bet dollars to donuts the home has been inspected and any issues that come up are reality show drama.
