What is Virtual C and how do you know if you have it?

Jane

Microsoft Visual C++ (often abbreviated as MSVC) is a commercial integrated development environment (IDE) product engineered by Microsoft for the C, C++, and C++/CLI programming languages. It has tools for developing and debugging C++ code, especially code written for the Microsoft Windows API, the DirectX API, and the Microsoft .NET Framework.

Thanks Zep, but that's Greek to me. I don't see anything listed in Programs or Add Remove. Where would I look to see if I have this? I never heard of it before.

Thanks
Jane

Unless you are going into writing computer programs Jane you would have no use for this program.

Thanks for all the information, I appreciate Jane because it is all Greek to me also. Since I am not into program writing, I surely have no use for this update. But I will read up on it..........Thanks for all the input.

I'm not sure I agree with the information presented here.

This is an update to the REDISTRIBUTABLE package, not to MSVC 2005 itself. Anyone with applications installed that were written with MSVC 2005 should install this update (basically everyone).

I ran a Pitstop scan to see what was in my computer and a Virtual C Package was there so I went ahead and downloaded the update. I am amazed these applications are so hidden. I certainly am not writing any computer program and do not understand why this was on my computer to begin with. But it was and I took the update.

Jane

Even though you might not personally write bits and pieces of programs,, the computer automaticaly does write bits and pieces of programs to fit within its enviornment.
Not all computers are exactly alike.
Windows updates is pretty smart, and wouldn't give you that if you don't need it.

Ok, thanks for clearing this up. I will go ahead and do the update.

I am cleaning and sorting through "My Favorites" and came across this which may be of interest as to the Visual C++ and it's relation to-----
