Can we reuse our shower doors?
Comments (2)" But my husband wonders why people don't reuse them. Is there a reason?" Genera;y, it's because of metal deterioration and the unavailability of gaskiting material, remember, the contractor has liability under warranty, unless you are willing to waiver. "If we DO reuse them, how difficult is it to change the hinges and handle? The new bathroom fixtures will be a different color." Contact a local glass company....See MoreOur New Fireplace-Doors and Gas Logs!
Comments (14)Lucky you! Guess you have a remote that simply turns it on/off and adjusts the flame? Lucky YOU! Guess you don't have to (or GET to according to your thoughts on the subject)buy, stack and bring in real wood (along with the mess and bugs. Guess you don't have to concern your self with embers popping out (because SOMEone prefers the screen down for more heat). And lucky YOU that you don't have the tedious job of cleaning out ashes two or three times during the season and then a final clean out at the end of the season. LUCKY YOU. Lucky me that I at least talked him into piping the fireplace for gas for when he DOES get tired of a "real" fireplace :) Any day now would be fine with me! (LOL) Nicely done :) Monica...See MoreWhich shower door for Granny's new shower?
Comments (5)If the shower head points away from the opening, you might not need a door or curtain. Search out the ADA requirements for showers, especially images. You could get ideas even if you do not use all their requirements. This link is a vendor of all-in-one units. I do not have any connection to them, other vendors are very similar, this page simply has good images. http://www.florestone.com/ada_comp.html We are installing grab bars in our new shower and tub surround. I mention it because we discovered what is required by ADA may not work for us in practice. We did put extra blocking in the walls if we want to move the bars to meet requirements. Instead of blocking, you can find big toggle bolts made especially for grab bars. Notice all of the units have a hand-held shower head, a requirement of ADA. We thought that was a good idea and obtained a shower head with a detachable hand-held unit. You could create niches or use stick-on wire racks. The wire units are light and did not hurt when I hit my head on them in our old enclosure....See MoreJust Tried out Our New Shower!
Comments (16)@missouribound, it kinda depends where I stand. If I stand forward, the rain goes down my back, directly under, yes, in my face and everywhere. Thinking about it, I bet you are going to like a handheld shower head better than a rain shower. I happen to love this, but not everyone likes the same thing. There is a bench in the corner where I shave my legs, and the rain doesn't drip in my face. Too far from the rain. We had a few "arguments" about how high and where to put a shaving bench, so I just threw my hands up and said I'd buy a portable one. I love that little thing. It's perfect and holds my razor too! I got it on Amazon. I can actually stick it anywhere, but it stays in one corner. Actually, the contractor came over the other day and saw my little bench. He was kinda miffed that I have the portable one, and he assured me that he'll come back and add a little shaving corner, but I'm sticking with my little guy! :-)...See Morehouse_vixen
