Capital Culinarian owners, post reviews, photos of your new range!
Comments (154)I've had my rangetop for over a year and I love the burners; but there are some problems. The simmer is a joke even after it was adjusted. I can bring water to a boil on simmer! So I just push the pot off to the side. Does anyone know if they made a fix for this? The other problem is the griddle. the sides are cold and the middle hot, so cooking pancakes or anything else on it means waiting till the middle is almost burned before you turn turn the pancake around to cook it evenly. Is there a fix for this or do I just have to deal with a bad design on both the simmer and burners? The simmer should have been designed to only light the center part of the burner. Did they even test this before they put it on the market?? I hope Trevor or someone else who is aware of this has some answers. I know that a year ago there was talk of a fix and never heard back about it. If nothing else they should make an iron plate to put over a burner so you can put something on a true simmer. My old Wolf burners also had a couple of heat rings, and on simmer only the middle ring was employed. For as much as I love the burners on this range top, if I had to do it over again with the problem with the simmer and the griddle (which also sticks by the way which my Wolf didn't), I would buy the Wolf range top. Capital Culinaria has a chance to really fix their product and I hope they do. The materials used are of a high caliber and those burners are to die for if they could get that simmer issue re-designed, and the uneven heating on the griddle fixed....See MoreWho installs Capital Culinarian Range when purchased out of state
Comments (2)As above, yep -- a plumber licensed for gas can hook it up and, for that matter, make any adjustments to the line, shut-off, etc. that you might need. Beyond that, if you're in a good size town I suspect that there are appliance installation people who can take care of set-up, adjustment, etc., if needed. No experience with Capital myself, but maybe your sales man can find a name or two for you -- I gather that mail order is a decent part of their business and I suspect that they have some information on installation and service people in certain cities. Failing that, a shout-out on this or several boards might produce contact information....See MoreWhere can I find a Capital culinarian in Utah?
Comments (46)Servicing a Capital Culinarian is one of the easiest jobs for a tech because of design and accessibility. Through Utah there is a group of independent techs called Mr. Appliance. They've been certified to work on both the indoor and outdoor equipment for Capital. That applies to the all the other Rocky Mountain and Northwest States. IF a dealer is not a service center then these guys are more than capable of handling anything they would need to do. I have the 30" CC because of our counter configuration. My wife talked me into looking at it and we watched the Youtube videos. We also looked at the price and there was quite a bit of savings over the Wolf and the Blue Star. We saw no advantage in Viking, Blue Star was interesting until we spoke with a local dealer and they couldn't adjust one for our altitude and took it back the same day they tried to put it in. When we saw the Life Style Article provided by Mercedez Benz and their write up we had to have it. Had it sent to a dealer so we could pick it up and they got to look at it. Their sales staff was ooohing and awing when we took it out of the double wall box. Came on its own pallet. For everyday cooking and simmering I'll never even look at anything else. I put my high end stainless away and I've really enjoyed using my cast iron skillets and pans for baking and frying. We'll be building again in a few years and this time it will be the 60" with the double oven and again the gas range and ovens. The ceramic plates really make the oven work efficiently and evenly. I am suprised at all those waffling both dealers and consumers.....look at most of the chef shows now and they almost all have the Culinarian Stoves! Large smooth oven door handle, largest window on the oven door and the drip lip and catch trays make cleaning up my messes great and the design keeps it from getting into the door. Everything can go in the dish washer. I couldn't do half the things as easily with any other brand. By the way my son who's a welder looked it over and said he'd never seen seams in Stainless that were so nearly invisible and smooth. This is the upper end of tech in the cooking world for the common guy to get his hands on. I didn't get to try it out but made a lot of calls to dealers in the East and to California. I met one guy who was frustrated about getting a counter range and built in ovens. The contractor and the appliance dealer didn't know anything about Capital they said. I happen to know they did but he went back to California and bought what he wanted and had the cabinet guy put them in. He looked them in the eye and stated he would never cook on anything else again. I wish he'd known about Gygi the dealer in SLC. Would have saved him some trouble. Oh and Gygi does have an operating model in their culinary school which is in the center of the store and open to the public. I think that one is a 6 burner top 48".....have to look again. You don't know what you're missing until you get your hands on one of these pieces of kitchen equipment. I don't care what it takes, I'll always have one now in my home....See MoreCapital Culinarian Service
Comments (25)The drip tray rails need to be placed properly in order to hold the grates securely. They should be oriented properly and cover the "gap." Without the grates in place they look slightly "tilted" but once the grates are seated they level out and hold the grates very securely (no rocking). I imagine you've already tried all of this, but you never know.... We sometimes overlook the simplest things. It's happened to me a few embarrassing times with computer-related issues where I try all kinds of complicated fixes when a simple "reboot" ultimately resolved the problem. I suspect that to some extent "service" depends upon the quality of the contracted repair outfit in your area. We are lucky that ours happened to be outstanding. Hope you get this resolved soon and can enjoy the CC as much as I do. Cheers, BFF...See MoreD Ahn
