Do a general cleanup of your computer. To clean out unwanted files. Start - Control Panel - Internet Options open - Delete cookies, Delete files (select all off-line content) - Click OK to Exit. Then go to Start - Run - Enter %temp% - Click OK - Click Edit - Click Select All - Delete. Start - Run - Enter - C:\windows\temp - OK - and select everything except temporary internet files, cookies and history folders and delete them. If you don't see Temporary Internet files, cookies and History listed - select all and delete. Then Restart your computer. 1. Error Checking- This takes about 35 minutes. Start - my computer - right click local disk (C) - properties - Tools Tab - Error checking section - Check now - check mark both boxes - Start - This requires a restart to begin. 2. Start - Run - type - sfc /scannow - OK Don't forget the space between c and / You will need the Recovery CD that came with your PC if any thing is found wrong. Don't insert unless asked for. Then use the Defragmenter. Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Defragmenter - Analyze and Defragment. If you computer starts running better download CCleaner and use the Clean and Registry. You sound like you are running with just about the same things as me. I have Windows XP, FireFox and an Internet Explorer which I never use so I don't know what version it is. Cookies are enabled. I use Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, SUPERAntiSpyware, and ATF-Cleaner. I also have use of Microsoft Messenger. I belong to a lot of Yahoo groups which were having problems a week or so ago - but not now. The blame for the users' problems was being laid at Yahoo's door - but I don't know the reason for e-mails not getting through, etc.

If they did that they would have a TON of windows updates to do plus likely all 3 service packs to deal with. Any of those items you listed try doing a google search for them and you will quickly find out what they belong to, or use a program like free start up lite by the makers of malwarebytes. StartUpLite avg= your antivirus is AVG? you do not want to stop that for sure. you can use a process library to find what each one is and does, what ever you do, DO NOT use a registry cleaner! if this is a dell then the dsca is a dell file C:\Program Files\Dell Support Center\gs_agent\custom\dsca.exe DSCA is Dell's remote-support app. If you're relying on Dell's remote-desktop support, do not delete it. but it does not need to be in your start up list. msseces.exe (Microsoft Security Essentials) are you using both AVG and Microsoft Security Essentials on your pc for Antivirus? if so you need to fully remove one of them you should only run one full time AV at a time that will cause conflicts. smax4pnp.exe (SoundMax controls) you can look up the rest of them there at the pcpitstop library if you want. another good free program that can help you with this kind of stuff is winpatrol WinPatrol

I sometimes get that message when I have a loose connection, either with my cable modem or the Linksys router. It will clear after checking the connections and/or pushing the reset button. Just my 2 c's. Bejay
