Lowered glass vessel sink: how to hide guts below deck?

Have purchased a semi-opaque greenish glass vessel sink that has a "watery-like" texture on the outside for our powder room. I want to lower it about 2.5" - 3" into the deck so the lip is not quite so high - so it'll sit about 4" above the deck. We're assuming, then, that will cause one to see down into the cabinet below: the water lines, the "stuff" stored in the cabinet and the inner rim of the deck - be it either solid granite as planned or perhaps tile and the concrete bed supporting the tile ... not very attractive. So, three questions: 1. Is there a way to NOT see down into the cabinet, other than "painting" the lowered part of the sink to block the view? 2. How do we prevent the inner appearance of the surrounding hole cut into the deck (be it granite or the layers of a tiled deck) from being seen? 3. Being that the sink ext. is textured by about 1/4" deep, does the sink hole need to also be cut to match that texture or will a typical smooth hole be fine since it will be caulked?
