Had to go to the hospital yesterday afternoon

After getting DH off to Sturgis, I was actually looking foreward to a few days of being lazy. The kids are still here but we can just let things go and do what we want and hang out. But around 1 yesterday afternoon everytime I would stand up to move around I would get a contraction. I had had a headache since Wednesday and was feeling nautious and upset tummy too. I spent most of the afternoon in the bathroom but when I would get up I would have another contraction. My folks stopped by on their way to Sturgis and I had my mom feel my stomach and she said that she could feel the contraction coming and then going.

I called the Dr. and first they said to just lay down and get hydrated, then called back and wanted to send me to the hospital to have a non stress test and see if I was having contractions. Well my folks left and the kids were all napping. I called my mil and she came an hour to stay with the kids and I headed out to the hospital. Unknown to me DH got my message and headed home, he drove 532 miles yesterday on his bike half on the way to lunch then he came home. I feel guilty that he is missing out on his brother's weekend with bil but was thankful he came home. My mil took the kids home and my sis is going to take the oldest to Kool-aid days in Hastings NE (Just to let you know Kool-aide was invented in Hastings, Nebraska. DH will go and get Hayden and he will be here with us.

Dr. said that I had a bad case of the intestinal flu and that was causing iritation contractions. There wouldn't lead to labor, but if I kept going and got dehydrated could lead to real contractions for me. So I got sent home with orders to stay off my feet for the next 48 hours on bed rest and keep hydrated and just have clear liquids. I am 26 weeks, and knew that they weren't the real thing but couldn't figure out what they were.

So 2 lazy days around here, I still have an upset tummy and a headache that I can't get rid of but at least I know it isn't the real thing.

Whew!...I really think you should not be home alone with the 3 little ones for a while.

I agree. Do you have a friend or neighbor that could come "hang out" with you all until your husband gets home?

Thank you Butterfly4u!! This will be my third spring/summer here. We finished construction and closed in Feb. 07. Yes it is fun, I'm having a blast with this and I am quite excited about what I have planned. I got the tilling done on both my large raised bed and my veggie garden yesterday. We got the timbers installed for the raised bed and I have 100 beautiful, healthy seedlings that came in yesterday. On vines, I'm still thinking. Folks have had some great ideas, and I'm really leaning toward using several different ones as I have 4 or so to put in. I hope to have all the seedlings in within a week or so, Unfortunately for this weekend, I've got a bad wisdom tooth that flared up last night is kicking me badly! This thing is hurting like you wouldn't believe!! So I'm pretty much out of commission till next week after I get the dentist to fix me up.

Not only no perfume, but avoid scented personal products of any sort, whether they are soaps, deodorants, skin lotions, cosmetics, hair products, the like. She should always choose the unscented version not matter how pretty the scent of the scented version is. The side benefit is that when she goes out in the evening she can put on her favorite perfume and not worry about conflicting scents getting in the way of the scent she has chosen to wear. Sometimes people wear so many contrasting perfumes they cancel each other out. BTW - my daughter took Benadryl for a while because of severe allergic reactions. I noticed she was becoming very sad. Her allergist told me that Benadryl is a beta blocker, which meant nothing to me, but apparently it can affect a person's mood. It also makes people very drowsy, so she should not drive when she is taking it. For long term use I believe there are better medications, but Benadryl is easily and conveniently available when one needs something quickly. And in an emergency, nothing is better than the Epipen. It can save a person's life and give him time to get to the hospital. I wish your mother a quick recovery and a happy return to her garden. Rosefolly

Sue, I am so glad you are OK! I was at the doc yesterday and happened to be reading about signs of a heart attack. I never knew until yesterday that a jaw tightening up was a sign. So glad you went to the ER, too. Don't be afraid of 911! My dad died when I was 13 due to heart problems. In retrospect, I CANNOT believe nothing was really done for him. I remember walking home from the train w/him, and he would have to stop because of the pain in his chest. He was thin and had textbook perfect blood pressure. I remember him having some medicine (patches?) for angina, but that is about it. My dad may have survived IF someone would have called 911. He thought he had indigestion, and his co-workers called my house. My sis (15 then) answered and told them they should call 911. They drove him to the ER instead, and he died at the hospital. We never got to see him again. They apologized at the wake. Too little, too late. So relieved everyone else who has posted is OK, too. No one really talks about heart disease for women, and isn't it the most common cause of death among women? Trail, I had no idea you were a cardio RN. I will remember you rules!

I developed the condition Lydia posted a link for when I was pregnant called POTS. It severly increaded my heart rate. It pops up during pregnacny because of changes in blood volume. Although, if you had it you would probably have a lot more symptoms than an increased heart rate from time to time. Were you by chance standing in line at the restaurant for a while before you were seated? Does standing still in line or while doing something seem to increase your heart rate? Was it overly hot and your blood pressure could have lowered increasing your heart rate? Do you seem out of breath if you do something with your hands over your head? Try to pin point what you are doing (physically) and what the surroundings are like (hot, cold, humid) and your state (no sleep, stressed out, nervous) when you are having these attacks. Could they be anxiety attacks? It may help you pin point what is going on. I hate to hear no one cared to try to answer your questions. I would guess everything was fine or else they wouldn't let you go home. Good luck. I hope this was the last of it.

Well to the 3 Linda's in my message I mentioned DH came home once he heard the message from me that I was having contractions. He drove 532 miles total yesterday. He got the message as they were eating lunch so he drove 265 miles for lunch and then came home. I felt so guilty that he was missing his trip with his brother but so thankful that he came home.

I just got home again from the hospital a half an hour ago. I had been in contact with the Dr. all day because of severe tension headaches. Well they turned into a full blown migraine on the left side of my head, my vision turned blurry, bright sunlight was hurting my eyes and I felt nautious. I went into the clinic and Dr checked me out my blood pressure was 120/80 so wasn't the cause of the headache. Decided that since the tylenol 3 with codeine wasn't helping ( I am on that for yesterdays contractions) I needed a shot and they wanted me to have blood tests to see if there was anything wrong pregnancy wise.

So DH left to take the girls to my sisters and bring Hayden home. He is a little monkey and is easy to take care of and entertains himself so will take it easy while they are gone and tomorrow until we have to go and get the girls.
