Wow, that sounds no worse than getting your teeth cleaned! I had mine out 31 years ago, the old fashioned way. I was in the hospital for several days, and had several weeks recovery. If I had to do it again, I'd take your method! Recover well!

Happy it went so well for you. Just remember that even though the outside looks pretty minor, you had serious work done on the inside so it's really important that you take it easy so it can heal. I had mine done a few years back and what I recall was how long it took for my scars on the outside to heal....I used that as a sign of what was going on on the inside too, a reminder not to overdo.

Also, for about a week, I kept getting episodes of what felt like low blood sugar, with shaking, sweats, heart palpitations, weakness..it was pretty scary, but it was a side effect from the anesthesia. While I did well, those first few days were rougher than I anticipated in terms of how I felt, but once I got past that, it was all good.

Another thing you might want to check into, depending on how it goes is to use bile salts. My GF recommended it and I've found it helpful at times when I've had a rich meal that may be hard to digest without that gall bladder full of bile to help me digest it. I've also noticed some foods make me feel like I can't digest them and I'm really uncomfortable, such as soy products. So there is a learning curve as you and your body adjust to life without a gall bladder. Of course, YMMV. ...listen to your body...

The aching in your muscles is caused by the gas they pump into your abdomen to be able to see better. Send someone out for some GasX and take it - you will be astounded at the results. A friend passed this advice onto me when my DD had to have the surgery done - someone had done the same for her.

I echo all that is said. This is your time to step back and take care of yourself.

DD had emergency laparoscopic surgery a month ago. Yes, it is amazing what they can do now.

That is quick! Amazing what laproscopy can accomplish! Back in the late 90's mother had her gall bladder removed and it was no in and out procedure!

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all your thoughts and prayers. Still feeling pretty good and was able to get out of bed without assistance this morning. Me and my daughter walked just a little bit outside yesterday and will do the same today. I saved up magazines and I'm reading a really good book, which helps with the down time.

Walking helps release the gas so it's a good thing to do. Happy that it's all over and you'll be fit as a fiddle.

Amazing to be in and out and home again, feeling this well already! Don't get over-confident or try to 'test' yourself. REST yourself instead.

I learn so much at the KT. Who'd have thunk it about the Gas-X? (DH and I would to drink seltzer after a colonoscopy to help relieve gas.)

Good sounds like a good successful surgery. Just be aware of the possibility of bile dumping syndrome right after surgery. It happened to me and no one had warned me. I thought I was dying. Take it easy and follow the food guidelines it will help.

So glad you are on the road to recovery, but remember everybody recuperates at different rates. Do what YOU feel like! ; )
