Problems with Kenmore Elite 790 range oven
Comments (2)I finally found an Elite 790 in gas hunting through the spare parts sites. If I got the right model, it would be a Frigidaire with about a $35 oven ignitor. No way to tell for sure unless you post the full model number of the range. I am virtually certain that the ignitor is what is wrong with your range. When they fail, the symptoms are long times to light, failure to relight in time with consequent big mood swings in temp, and sometimes a good bang or the addition of heat from the broiler is enough to trip the thermocouple and get things rolling. If you do replace the ignitor yourself, be sure to unplug the range from the wall before you go messing with the bare ends of any wires. Alternately, replacing an ignitor is a pretty simple chore for a tech, so you might want to call around and get some quotes just to have it done by a pro. It is a quick fix and they may cut you a good deal just to come out and fix it....See MoreKenmore Elite range?
Comments (17)That's horrible Joyce. That has been my experience with Kenmore Elite (washer) and I won't buy it again. The Electrolux I said I ordered above - it was gone. I ended up going an entirely different route and bought a BlueStar range and a BlueStar electric wall oven in navy blue. Way more money (range, wall oven and exhaust hood) than originally planned and way more work (had to buy a wall oven cabinet and hubby had to install it where the pantry was, tile backsplash where the OTR microwave was, etc.), but I'm really happy with the results. I've never cooked with gas before and I like it a lot....See MoreKenmore Elite Gas Stove Oven Door Problem
