Stove kept locking either door or oven controls. Removed back of stove and discovered a the rod from the controller to the door lock on the front top inside oven door. Apparently had a burr on it, therefore grabbed the insulation and rolled it around the rod making a 1-1/2" cocoon on the rod. Cut it off smoothed down the insulation protruding from the 4" hole in the top plate "protecting" the insulation. it works fine after a year of problems . With no Service call or outside repairs. Somedays are a joy!!!!

Hi Snow, It's not really a slide-in, but it's not really free standing either. It's more of a hybrid in that it doesn't hang over your counter tops, but it doesn't have a back guard with control panel. It's the GE cafe (model CGS980SEMSS). Sorry to say though that the baking drawer is located at the bottom, not over the main oven. I'm not sure if that's the look you're going for, it's very "industrial" looking as opposed to sleek. Since no one has chosen to address this query, let me share what I found out on my own shortly after I posted it: that was a phenomenal deal that I should have jumped on the minute I saw it. I did not and the unit was sold later that very same day. I have since learned that the reason why the unit was marked so low had nothing to do with it being an LG product. Instead, and as I learned from a different sales rep and the showroom manager, it was because it had been sitting on the showroom floor for 8 months. In order to get it out the door and to be able to bring in faster-moving merchandise, the manager took the drastic step of marking it all the way down to 75% off. Why it didn't move faster defies explanation except for the fact that it was to close to avocado green in color.(Not exactly a popular appliance color in 2011. lol) But, for me, that color was no problem since the unit would have landed in my basement laundry room, far from public view. FWIW, the showroom manager also explained to me that that model was one of about dozen or so other units of various models and manufacturers, that he'd marked at 75% off as "managers specials." He explained that he goes through this "get 'em out the door" exercise about once per quarter. It just so happened that the day I casually strolled into the store, that Kenmore Elite gas steam dryer was the last of those "specials" still sitting there. With a price tag like that, it was screaming for me to take it home. But, again, having been out of the laundry appliance market for so long, I didn't recognize it as such. :-( Oh well, if there's anything I've learned from this it is: (1) do your homework before you hit the showroom! This way, you at least have a basic understanding of what you're looking at and know whether or not something is a good deal when you see it and (2) if you're looking to make a budget purchase, give yourself time to scour the scratch and dent showrooms on regular basis.

We have the 3 yr old version the GE Profile you're interested in buying, and while there plenty of things I like about the stove, there are other issues I've discovered that I wish I would have known to consider before buying it. So even though some of the features on the newer model may be different, I'll share my quirks with you just in case they're not and maybe they can help you a little with your decision. 1. Instead of having 4 individual burners, the burners on our stove are two combined into 1 making them very heavy and cumbersome to lift and clean. They do however, wash well in the dishwasher if you can fit them in. 2. The pan or top under the burners of our stove is black, deep and shows every piece of dirt or dust that lands on it. It's literally impossible to keep clean looking even when it's not being used. Which may be the same with other stoves, but because of the heavy double burners it's harder to clean. 3. Because I'm just under 5 ft I've found it hard to reach over the higher sitting burners to work the digital controls on the back part of the stove. This is especially true when the burners are hot or pots are cooking on the stove. 4. From both a design and user perspective, it would have been better to get a slide in instead of a stand alone. I say this because if I had my druthers, I think it would be much better to have all of the controls in front of the burners. 5. The probe on our oven has never worked well, the griddle burner has never lit properly or burned the way it should so quality is a bit of an issue, on the flip side, the convection roast & bake setting do a great job.
