how to clean Miele Optima ss door?

I have all SS in kitchen, Subzero, Bluestar, Zehyer vent hood and Miele Optima.

for some reasons, I only have problem to keep Miele door clean, tried many types of cleaner and Pledge never be able to get rid of those dripping marks from Miele's door. I know not all SS are the same, I was wondering anyone has a good way to shine Miele's Optima SS door?? Thanks

We got an integrated (paneled) Optima, but I find our KA built-in fridge to be a bear to clean (the Wolf range door's SS isn't that much better).

Try the 3M SS cleaner and polish aerosol spray. It works much better thn SS Magic on my fridge. You can spray it on the SS itself, or on a paper towel.

My big concern about SS is the cleaning factor, and then I thought so many people have SS in their kitchens, so perhaps the cleaning factor won't be so bad. So, this week we decided on the Optima SS dishwasher. Should we change to panel???
We did get our Subzero paneled, but have a SS Thermador oven and will be ordering a SS Viking compactor. Thirtyall, what cleaners have you used and do you regret getting the Optima in SS?

we just purchased the la perla yesterday. i went through the machine with a fine toothcomb. there was one small scratch in the bottom right hand corner of the door which you can't see when you stand more than 1 foot away. the cost of the la perla ended up being $100 less than an optima fresh out of the box and we were given a 2 year warranty. (1 year miele DW + 1 year for having an authorized installer) my husband really liked the pop open drying function and the fact that it had 2 vents instead of one. we asked the sales person which she would get since we were concerned about the out of the box issue. she said since she knew the history of the laperla we were looking at, she would take the la perla. as the prices were about the same we decided to go with the la perla. here's hoping it doesn't break down like my ASKO. ;)

It allows the unit to run at a bit higher pressure and is supposed to have a higher duty cycle. Too early to tell on that. Is it worth 500 bucks? I'm not sure you could pencil in a spread sheet making the xtra dough pay for itself over the unit's life. Your dishes probably won't get any cleaner, Miele DW's already work well. It's not as if you're getting a used unit without warranty from sombody you don't know and can't verify history on. Sounds like you're a bit of a nervous nelly and need the security of having the latest, new in the box experience. Many people would jump at the chance to get 25% off on a Miele product, as there is never a sale. Miele makes great products and stands behind them. They are always improving and innovating their products. Within a few years the entire line will have some sort of change to it and your's will be obsolete if you choose to look at it that way. Same thing happens with computer's - did that stop you from buying whatever you're typing on now? If you want a Miele DW and are serious about getting a "deal" sounds like a good opportunity. I always tell folks around here you don't get a discount - you earn it. Here you are earning it by assuming some risk with a floor model, getting a discontinued model, and living with older technology and not getting a box. Most deal hounds would gladly trade these minor issues for 500-600 bucks.

ghetterly, thanks for the plugged rinse-aid dispenser suggestion. I'll definitely mention that to the tech if he/she doesn't find something. It makes sense that it could affect drying and I hadn't thought of it. hidroman, thanks for the Turbo Dry recommendation. I have been using the Miele brand since I buy the tabs and salt from them. I am excited at the prospect of dry plastics...also thanks for the explanation of how the drying system works. It's easier to get/judge good service if you have a clue how something works! I haven't opened a new box of tabs in several weeks, so even a formula change doesn't account for this. I did change the filter...but that just doesn't seem related. More compelling to me is the idea that multiple things might give out and need replacing around the 4-year mark. I called Miele and the first thing they mentioned is that maybe I have hard water...I certainly do, but it hasn't changed dramatically over the last couple of weeks :) Anyway, they walked me through programming the machine to have a hotter rinse and longer drying time. It never occurred to me that I could get better drying performance, I feel pretty dumb. Anyway, I'm excited to see if the hotter water improves performance. After my actual problem is solved, that is :) I will see how just the programming fixes work out and then call for a service if they don't solve the problem. It's like being in the Twilight Zone, I know nothing has changed but the machine! It seems reasonable that after being run everyday for 4 years SOMETHING could go wrong, even in a well-built machine. Sigh. Hopefully they are open to the possibility that something is wrong with the machine so I can get it fixed...

I am in complete agreement with you, fauguy. While I considered getting the La Perla, I decided that, even if they were close in price, I'd go for the Optima. I prefer the routine controls on the Optima - navigating a menu for a dishwasher, especially when I'll use one setting 90% of the time seemed like overkill. I loved the look of the fully integrated Optima in the store, but as I posted earlier, the handle looks too bulky when installed. I told the salesman that my first choice was the G2432. I didn't want him to have to special order a new unit, so I told him I'd take the G2472 if the other one wasn't in stock. You're also right that some of the salesmen at the store, while generally informed about the products, sometimes don't know them in great detail. Unfortunately, they're really not forced to be, as they sell great product that sells itself (large Miele sales), and no customers there spend the time researching like I do. While I am aware of their knowledge base, I didn't think it was an issue, as I determined the right model on my own. My mistake was assuming that I would receive the current unit. Anyway, the new G2432 was installed today. Haven't run it yet. Funny thing - I noticed that the Normal wash time is 2:39, while it was about 1:43 on the G2470. With the Turbo setting, it drops to 1:43. I'll have to experiment with the settings to see if I can use a quicker wash. I'd like to use the Express, but not sure if the plastic cups and bowls will dry.

I was never a big fan of paneled appliances. Our KD designed the kitchen with a paneled DW. DH liked the idea, but I was very resistant at first. When I finally decided to do it, I reasoned, at least it would be one less appliance/SS thing in the kitchen to clean. I am very happy I made that choice. When closing the DW door, I tend to push the door up below the handle, which means the front of the DW would have been covered with smudges and fingerprints constantly had we gone with SS.

Of course, now that I know what a PIA the KA SS doors are to clean; as much as I like the look of a SS fridge, I do feel a twinge of regret that noone pushed me to panel that as well!

As I mentioned, I don't have problems to clean my other SS appliances, only with Optima SS door. I've used 409, green stuff, and Pledge with 3M cleaning pad, no scratch but driping marks are still there. I like the looks of SS appliances, don't mind to clean them at all,I even have SS backsplash behind my Bluestar.
Meile Optima is definetely not the same SS like others (304?), it does not have sheen as Subzero or Bluestar and much harder to keep it clean. I won't say I regreted to buy it because it works fine and very quiet, just need to find the right way to clean it.

I use Weinman SS spray, or something else named ZEP. I use these for all my SS appliances and get the same results. You have to watch ZEP because it can be flammable so not recommended near the range.

With all of these I use a two cloth method. I spray on, wipe with one cloth and then buff with another. I use soft cotton clothes--thick yellow ones you can buy at HomeDepot.

I use WD-40, sprayed on a paper towel and then well buffed for a great shine on my Miele DW SS door! Works like a champ for me for over 2 years.

Try wiping on some mineral oil after you clean it, and then buff. I find that keeps finger prints at bay for quite a while.
