no delete button on add and remove programs

I do not have a delete button on my add and remove programs screen so I cannot delete programs. Any idea what is causing this and how to get it there?

It sounds as if you are logged into a limited user account. What Operating System is this?

These are the instructions we give here at the forum for malwarebyters copy them & save them to a folder if you want. Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop. Click here Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application. You uninstalled using the Add/Remove programs feature obviously. Sometimes the underlying folder remains there as you have found. In Windows Explorer (Start/All programs/Accessories/Windows Explorer) simply click on the folder to highlight it and hit the delete key. If this fails then highlight the folder in the left pane and then in the right side click on the top item listed, hold down the Shift key and tap the End key that is beside the Delete key then hit Delete. This empties the folder you selected. Now you can return to the left side and delete the empty folder. If you do not know how to locate the folder in Windows Explorer....... Click the plus sign beside My computer, then the plus sign beside C:\ to drop the menu down, click the plus sign beside Programs Files. Scan down the list for the Logitec folder and click to highlight it, the files in the folder will be visible on the right side now. Be sure there are no other Logitec items installed. You may get a warning about deleting shared files but if there are no other Logitec accessories attached on your computer you should be safe to remove these

If you have to ask you don't want to go there. Going into the Registry isn't for the faint of heart. There is a free program called REVO that is pretty good at removing all traces of unwanted programs. Their site says: You can clean any junk, temporary and unnecessary files from your drives;You can erase all your browser history in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Netscape browsers; You can erase the recent document history of Microsoft Office products from version Microsoft Office 2000 till Microsoft Office 2007; You can erase most of the important traces you have left behind after working with Windows; You can permanently delete all of your already deleted files so they become completely unrecoverable by any software; You can securely delete any existing file or folder so it becomes unrecoverable by any software Would this make REVO complementary to CCleaner, or could REVO be used in place of CCleaner ?

do not panic every thing will ask you that it is just the fail safe to make sure you did not click something accidentally. If it is a program you no longer use or need then go ahead and remove it. YOU must remove it totally you do not want bits and pieces left behind any more than it already does because that can cause conflicts and problems. which is why some programs have additional specific removal tools built for them. Such as McAfee and Norton, for those you do the regular add remove programs then from their website get and use their specific removal tool to get the bits and pieces then you still have to go through and delete some of the left behind folders. but for most ordinary programs add remove does a good job. If you do not know what it is then don't delete it with out doing some serious googling on it to see what it is. If you know what it is and don't use it anymore then just do it. And remember to empty that recycle bin. It will give you room back on your hard drive and depending on how crowded your hd is that could be beneficial, it may or may not speed up your pc. Things that help there would be looking in your startup menu and seeing exactly what is starting up when the computer boots, many times there are things in there that do not have to start up at bootup. but that is a place you definitely need to do some research on what each of the .exe listed there controls. The thing that will speed up your pc most is adding RAM memory if you can and since it is pretty cheap and easy to do it is the best way to breathe new life in to the pc. AND make sure you open the side of the pc(disconnected from power) and clean out those dust bunnies on a regular basis. PS in add remove do NOT remove any of the MS hotfixes or updates.

IE 7 is your browser what we need is what windows version are you using like is it xp or vista?

This is how you get to the add remove programs area.
Start> control panel> add remove programs double click that to open the add remove programs area, wait while it completes the list, then you will see the list of all things on your pc, should you want to delete or remove an item then click on that item to highlight it, on the far right a button will appear that says change/remove or something similar that is the button you want to select to delete the item, it will pop up asking are you certain you want to delete this item if you are sure then click yes and it will begin the removal process.

You DO have to be logged in on an administrator account to be able to do this task.

It is OfficeXP media center. This is my computer. I signed myself as the administrator. I can't find where that is to check it.

ok are you saying when you go to add remove programs and then to the list of programs it shows, when you select one by clicking on it to hilight a program you do NOT have a button to the right that says either Change/Remove or Remove?

Install Ccleaner, open, click Tools on the left side and all your programs appear with the option to remove any of them.

I googled your problem and find that it is not as unusual as I thought. Here are the results. All the fixes I see involve editing the registry so I suggest you follow Owbist's good advice above or ravencajun has recommended an uninstall program lately.

I found the one recommended by ravencajun. It's Revo Uninstaller. Unless you are comfortable editing the registry you will want to use either the ccleaner uninstaller or revo uninstaller.

When I go to Add/Remove Programs, I don't see a remove button either. But if I RIGHT click on the item I want to remove, the remove button comes up
