house pic on toolbar

I messed up yesterday by changing my history preferences. Didn't like what happened. System restore didn't work--tried several dates, working backwards. Anyway, I've gotten most of it fixed but the house pic is supposed to go to my email but instead now goes to a site with a WOT warning (http://if.startnow.com) . Not particularly concerned with the warning, just want my link back. Any help out there? Thanks, Sandy

I read how to get to the system restore in safemode in another post and will work on that later, thanks.

Oops, sorry, I forgot. XP sp3, using FF 4. Have IE8 but seldom use it.

I am a little confused here, by house pic do you mean the little icon of a house that is up on the top of your browser which should lead to your home page?

Or do you mean you have an actual picture of your house somewhere?

if you mean your home page a couple of things could have happened if you are being sent to a WOT red site you could have a re-direct infection on the machine that has hijacked your home page.
Or you somehow changed your homepage to that site.
It would help to know if you are using IE or fire fox and which version number Please always include that info.
for firefox go to the page you want to set as your home page while on that page go up top click on tools options on the first tab (main) will be the startup area since you are on the page you want as your home page click on where it says use current page.

For IE (not knowing your version) do the same go to the page you want to set as your homepage while using your IE,
Click the arrow to the right of the Home button(house icon) , and then click Add or Change Home Page.
In the Add or Change Home Page dialog box,click Use this webpage as your only home page.Click Yes to save your changes.

let me know if it goes back to that other red wot page if so you do have a redirect infection.

ok lets see if I can tackle all this LOL yes you can change up the items and names to simply just have the favicon for the site there, just go to that one on the bar and right click on it then choose properties there you can change the name, eliminate the name or just put an initial what ever you want. If you have several that deal with one subject like news for example create a folder on that bar and move all the news related ones into that folder, which will give you more room. Tab mix plus the add on will give you a lot of options too. To change up your "chrome" as it is called like I did on mine so I only have 2 bars and no empty space, go up to the top and click on view> customize> and once that has opened then you can drag stuff around from bar to bar and move things where ever you want to, it is very similar to unlocking the bar so you can move it freely. you can do away with any buttons you do not need by just dragging them off the bars and into that box that opened when you hit customize, I also used from that box the smaller icons so I could fit more. I never liked having my bookmarks in sidebar and have not messed with it. I do think there are some specific add ons for that though. what you can do with your screenshot is upload it to imageshack then from there you can get the forum code for the thumbnail to post here so it will not take up much room, the code you want will have the Clipboard is where your computer saves things when you click on copy then you go some where and hit paste and it posts it from the clipboard. With fireshot once you click on the big red S and capture the pic you have options at the top of what to do with it, one upload that will upload it to a web server and give you the code for that picture to post here in a forum, Save click that to save the picture to your pc this is a good option just put it in your pictures folder and you can always find it. there are many options, but with fireshot I believe you can only capture the open page not the actual browser itself. Even when choosing full page it only captures the open page in the browser. so you will probably want to just use your screen print button that is on your pc. Up on the top row of buttons is the Print Screen button just click on that and it saves it to your clipboard, open your photo editing program and paste the pic in there, then you can save it, Also an easy way to do it is to open an email and click paste in the email and it will add it there, I do that sometimes and just email it to myself especially if I will be needing it on one of my other computers since I can access my email from all of them.

Good idea owbist! salbwil, Here are instructions for Hijackthis, Click Here to download HJTInstall.exe Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop. Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop. Right click the Hijackthis Icon and Run as Adminstrator if you use Vista or Windows 7 By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Click on Install. It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop. Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis. Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad. Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" and Paste the entire contents of the log into your next post. DO NOT use the AnalyzeThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted. DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what HJT lists will be harmless or even required by your Operating System.

Thank you, thank you, thank you -------- everyone! I was just trying to add a little more fun to a few everyday dishes. Let's start with the strawberries. As I said, inspired by Ann, but with a little modification on my part. I used half cream cheese and half whipped cream because I like cream with strawberries better. I did not use vanilla, I am not sure vanilla is compatible with strawberries. The sprinkle is dark chocolate. I think chocolate should not compete with the strawberries and should act as a "seasoning" instead. The wild rice was steamed in Zongzi Grass leaves. Zongzi Grass leaves, not bamboo leaves as they are called by some, have been used to steam rice in the Far East for centuries. They impart a very nice flavor to rice. The ravioli: Well made ravioli should have very thin skin; however, I like pasta, so how do you make ravioli with more pasta? If I make ravioli with wide fringes, that would make them look kind of clumsy. So I came up with this idea as well home-made myself a cutter that would give me thin skinned ravioli and more pasta to go with the sauce. It also kind of makes the ravioli intriguing looking. dcarch

Hi Sandy, the house is your home page so it must have changed. Go email page then tools > options > general and click on use current page. That will change it back.

When changes happen to your browser, don't use System Restore to try to resolve things. Your browser is just a software program and going to the trouble of running a System Restore might just cause separate issues to deal with in your operating system...while not doing anything to fix the browser. Unless you've also picked up a virus on your system -- a separate issue entirely -- most browser problems can be most easily fixed by working within the browser's settings only.

Thanks, Bob. That's exactly what I needed but couldn't find how to get there. Its back to normal now.

RC, Yep, "house" =home page icon. Can't believe I did that (blushing). Just not thinking--or that's the way I think and forgot to translate into computer terms.

Kudzo, changes didn't "happen". I did them purposely. It was the settings I had changed; but they affected way too much and I wasn't sure how to fix it (checking or unchecking those preferences again doesn't bring things back) and just wanted to go back to before I hit OK. Thanks for the info.
