Lime-wire & hughes net satelite

I am wondering if anyone uses lime wire for music dowloads, that also is using a satellite connection. I was thinking of downloading the lime wire to download music but have a few questions first. Being that people would be drawing from my computer for music as well as I would draw from other people would this cause me to use more than my fair access? Even if I only downloaded a few songs per day I was wondering if the draw from others would still put me over my limit. This probably makes no sense but I am trying to explain it as best I can. I am using Hughes net, which I love but it is limited in some areas & I am wondering if this is one of those situations. Any tips or advice is appreciated. Thanks, Terri

Limewire will work with any type of internet connection.
I don't know what you mean by fair access
You don't have to share anything on your computer.
If you get Limewire, go to Tools/ Options/ Sharing, and uncheck the sharing folder and uncheck Share Finished Downloads.
You really don't want to be sharing downloaded songs and let people draw from your computer. If it is a copyright song, you would be considered a distributor if you are sharing it with others.
I know millions of people download and share songs, but to be on the safe side, go to where I said an uncheck the boxes so as not to be sharing. Limewire has no fair access like some programs where you needed to share x amount to get x amount.

Just remember - you are illegally downloading songs, and they do go after some people. The choice is yours.

Even if you have "paid" for LimeWire - any copyrighted song is an illegal d/l - and they are ALL copyrighted. It doesn't matter if you download 1 or 100 - theft is theft.

I would suggest a pay sight such as iTunes, Wal-Mart.com, etc.

A dead squirrel provides enough N for about two tomato plants for the season. But the real problem for them is lack of water nearby. This might not work for everyone, but IME a bucket of water, part buried for easy access, will solve the problem over the weeks. The green toms are not good food for them and they will happily take other things, if water is plentiful. Try the bucket, plus a pile of corn, away from the garden, if you want a faster response from the squirrels, and see how it goes. In my case they really only get into the raspberries (but they have water). They may have memory of it, since they have eaten berries for millennia, but even with raspberries, they wait until they are absolutely ripe, and they have only started since several dozen ash trees died in the neighborhood due to the emerald borer, depriving them of their July staple (ash seeds). Before then, my raspberries were untouched by squirrels. The robins are another matter of course.

C'mon Mikie, this is silly. Yes, Broadband reports is a legit website, but this wasn't an item they reported, it was a forum post. Forums have no reputation, they're forums. Secondly, if you read more than the first few sentences of a page full of comments, you'll find what was alleged was viewed as an aberration caused by a rare configuration error. Indeed, it's mentioned that the Docsis standard provides security. Grandms, what mikie is suggesting (but not substantiating) and that I remain unconvinced of, is that there is a security risk down the wire. WPA is security for a Wifi signal, something completely different. Whew.

We switched to satellite (ATT) a year or so ago because they offered fiber-optic internet, and we wanted that. It is not bundled with phone, but the bill for internet and TV is $126.00 a month. I've considered getting rid of the TV part, but that would only save me $35.00 a month - I got the barest minimum channels and made sure that it has NO extra sports channels on it. If I upgrade my TV at all, all the sports channels get added in, plus a $15.00 a month payment to some football sports organization, and I do not want to give them a penny. We also have antennae that look like sheets of paper, and with those, we can get 127 local channels, about one third of which are in English. We get seven or eight local Armenian channels, not to mention Korean, Thai, Taiwanese, Philippine, Russian, Spanish, etc. We do want a lot of TV on the local channels, as they are not included in the cable. My brother pays the cell phone bills, and so I don't know what that is, but he said it only cost $10 a month to add me to his plan. We have pretty much no problems with the satellite, as our weather tends to be clear. We no longer have a landline. We only used it when our parents were alive. I will probably cancel satellite when my two year contract is up. However, I do like the DVR that comes with it, and that's what I use the most.

Hi As others have said, it really depends on what you want where. For example, we use Sonos extensively so regardless of whether we are running speaker cable out to wall or ceiling speakers or whether the zone players are located out in the ceiling, we know that we need additional power points for each of the zones so we work out the location and allow for them. With automated lighting/HVAC, there are complicated systems and simple ones that fit behind the light switch/interface with the unit and are simply controlled on an ios device. Again, depending on what is needed or desired we know that looking at the lighting plan and seeing what circuits/zones need to be wired eg two way will often dictate the solution. ie where you go to switch on the main lights to the living area is also a convenient location for the HVAC controls, intercom etc With entertainment, we always do multiple ethernet ports to entertainment locations as you quite often find both the TV, Xbox, cable tv also need connection to the internet and we prefer to hard wire. It is then simply a matter of running it back to a central hub to your signal source. I agree with the others it is how you want to live that needs the thought. Cheers

Legalities aside, the name of the game is sharing
If you're going to take someone elses tunes it's only fair to make yours available. If you don't, you might find the other party killing your downloads.
As far as what you call "fair access"...other users can't download your tunes if you're not logged onto LimeWire...if that's your concern.

Sunshine, I'm a satellite user, and I know your concern about getting "fapped". You don't want your uploads to go over the allowance. Do what randy ca suggested. I occasionally use Limewire to download and have no problems, but then, I'm not a heavy downloader. Anyway, not many people would want the "moldy oldies" that I download.

Thanks for all of the replies & info. Grandms that is what I was talking about, the fapped thing. Anyway, as of now we download all of our music by paying for it on itunes. We used to only have dial up so haven't even attempted to download much for a long time. Now that we have satellite I can finally download once in a while if I want. I think you all have answered my questions & I appreciate everyone's input. Thanks,
