I have big problems with IE and would like to install Safari or Firefox.

How do I do this??

Uninstall IE completely on my Control panell and install a new browser?? Od just add the new browser?

I have Windows XP.

Very simple to do, go here for the Firefox download page and here for Safari. Install both and try them, they use no resources when not active and you can then see if there is a preference for you.

Not to try confusing you but there are also Opera and Chrome both of which are as good as those you select.

Add the new browser. It's just another program and your computer doesn't care whether you have one browser or ten, and they don't interact with one another or interfere with one another. I have three browsers, and, since they have slightly different features, I occasionally have all three open at the same time. In addition, you can import all of your bookmarks into the new browser(s) from IE.

There are ways to remove your current version of IE, but not typically from the Control Panel, and it may cause further problems if you do it. Leave IE alone and don't bother with it if it isn't working properly. Maybe the next update of Windows will even take care of whatever problem you have.

I wouldn't bother fixing Internet Explorer 7. I would up date to version 9. It's the most current version for the operating system Vista. Here is a link that might be useful: explorer/ie-9

If you are using Windows 7, then you should be using IE9 and not an earlier version. IE8 is vulnerable to various problems. Do you have any other browser besides Internet Explorer installed? I would suggest that you always have at least two browsers available to use in case there is a problem with one. You might try Firefox or Chrome or Opera, all of which are probably better browsers than IE. It is doubtful that IE is the cause of your problems with Facebook.

Nothing wrong with MSE, its fine. That remark by some Microsoft employee saying use some other a-v was dealt with and powers to be sort of reminded MS customers MSE and their other security programs were great and getting more aggressive with the adware/malware too in coming months. If you really want to try a new AV you might want to look at www.360Safe.com freeware that works.. Adblock in IE usually is a addon... click your gear, then 'manage add ons' and you should see it there in tracking protecting. Windows 7 & 8 have Trouble shooting in Control Panel... one of the items is IE and another you might look at is Networking. This post was edited by mikie on Fri, May 30, 14 at 5:28

I finally figured it out. If others have this problem, got to Control Panel > Programs and Features > For Win7 in left hand panel click "view installed updates > scroll down to Microsoft Windows, then find whatever it is you want to install. If the install was very recent, it is easier to change the view by clicking on Installed On tab, then all will be arranged by the date it was installed, bringing the recently installed to the top. Then just hit uninstall.
