Replace closet door with linen curtain?

My bathroom is small, but it has 3 doors: the bathroom door, the door to the outside yard, and the door to the walk-in-closet. Too many doors in a limited space. What's more, the closet door swung outward and made it very difficult to place any furniture in the room near it. Now I'm considering to remove the closet door, and replace it with a simple linen curtain. Is it ok to do so? There is a shower room(not steam shower) in the bathroom. Linen curtain might not be a good vapor barrier though......That's what I am worrying about. What do you think?

No a linen curtain probably wouldn't work well as a vapor barrier. You should post pictures there may be other options that someone might not think of without the visual.

I'm confused. Do you need to walk through the closet to get to the bathroom?

In my opinion, using curtains in place of closet doors looks low-rent to me. If you are selling, buyers will most likely feel that they'll have to spend money right off to buy new closet doors. If you can afford it, buy and install new bifold or sliding closet doors before your house is listed. The latest way to do this is with barn doors (see this site for pictures), although this will cost more than the other two options.

Yes, I'm glad I held back. It feels like the right decision. Now I am thinking that if I ever decide to do curtains, it should be one big long rod, and sheers hung in between each panel (that could actually slide over, if I so desired). But still I don't even know if that's the right decision or leaving empty. It still feels "unfinished" to me in a way. I'm not sure if small artwork would help alleviate that feeling in me? If I decide to try the sheer route, I can tape sheers up in between the panels and see how I like it. Sigh. These decisions are so big because if you don't like it, too bad! A big custom rod at 25 feet is probably at least $1,000, and then add curtains on top of that, so it's no easy decision! I do really appreciate all the feedback though, and am glad to put this project on the back burner for now!

Tub to shower & linen closet or just a big shower?

Just curious what the general opinion is on tub to shower conversions. we are considering this (5 year plan) and are curious about which is better A) a 60" shower (essential just converting the tub into a walk in) or B) a smaller shower, with a small linen closet on the end. More info - it's a tiny 5x7 bathroom with a door in the center of the long wall, bathtub to the left and 24" vanity to the right. Toilet would be in the back right corner (from the door). There is currently ZERO storage, save for an over crowded linen tower (toiletries) that's next to the vanity. We will have to replace the plumbing in the wall for the shower, but are not keen on moving any drains. Thoughts?

Perhaps a magnetic latch mounted inside the casing with a knob surface mounted in the front? I did that with an old wooden medicine chest that didn’t have a functioning latch.

Will a pocket door work?

We are changing from a door that opens into the closet to a pocket door. This means completely moving the entrance from the south to the east AND re-configuring (ie:new) the whole closet.

We thought about changing the entrance even more... from inside the master bath to outside, in the bedroom, but decided we like it in the master bath. It's nice to have everything right there and we will include storage for some bathroom items. TP, towels, etc.
