re: pop up message

I keep getting a pop up that reads " Your search settings have been restored to their default settings . " At the top are the words Search Settings Notification. I use Firefox as my browser. This really concerns me. I did get a virus the other day that AVG " caught and healed ". It was called Trojan Horse Backdoor.Ircbot.JAO. What does this mean? Thank you for your help.

Well if you do not have either Malwarebytes (stay with the free version download). Or Superantispyware you should download one or both. Install, update and run the full scan, not the short scan.

Absolutely - compact your messages and the notice vanishes. Open Outlook Express, click File at the top, click Folder, click Compact all folders. Prior to doing that you might clear out your inbox and sent folder of unwanted emails then empty the Deleted folder

Sue, as far as I know, this is a valid offer. I got the same message, and I have been pondering whether I want to go this route. I currently use AVAST as my AV, along with ZA as my firewall. Not sure if I want to change and give the combination suite a try or not. If you do decide to go this route, you must uninstall whatever you are presently using as your AV since you don't want two AV programs running at the same time. I'm holding off for now, and if I should read lots of good things about the ZA suite, maybe I'll change to it if it's still being offered for free.

and remember for Java you can always simply go to your control panel select the java icon there then go to the update area in that and update from there that way you know it is safe. Extremely important to check and make sure you only have the latest version of Java and none of the old ones that are security risks. Running JavaRa can handle that task. JavaRa Updates and Removes Old and Redundant Java Versions as to all those toolbars and extra crud they try to push on you now, well if you choose to download your apps from ninite you will not have to deal with that they strip it and give you only what you want and need. oldhousegal, I commend you. I'd love to be living that way - as they say "every journey begins with a single step". I found a website created by a grad student from Singapore who is studying "food perceptions" of all things. This entire website is dedicated to unraveling the "great pine nut mystery" (don't you love the internet!). Here is a picture of pine nuts. "S" is apparently what you want. "A" is what you don't want. Similar in size.. posting another pic below which is a close up of "A". close up on PNS (pine nut syndrome) inducing pine nut Funny... Target house brand of pine nuts has only had one reported case of PNS but Trader Joe's has had 69 cases.... maybe I'm not ready to give up on Target yet (maybe I am still being naive to believe everything I read on the internet.... looks pretty credible to me though - will link the website below). IF you got that backdoor infection you really need to go to this help forum, register, start a new post in this area, and tell them what was found and go through a thorough look at your system to make sure everything is gone. And I would not trust the pc for any type of banking or buying. I would also make sure to change all passwords.
Having a backdoor infection on the pc is quite serious.
