Saw this website on CNBC a few minutes ago.

Click on your state, or enter your zipcode, and you'll get a list of several stations & their gas prices. It shows both the lowest & the highest prices.

It covers parts of Canada also.

Hmm. There is only one gas station in my zip code and it is $4.26. I can walk there from here but I always drive right past. The least expensive I have spotted is $4.09.

Outrageous that the big oil folks and their supporters can trump up phony shortages and bilk the entire world! I live in a rural area. I use a propane tank for gas heat. It costs around $400 to fill a 250 gallon tank. One is supposed to request a fill-up, when the tank is at 25% and they only fill it 80% because gas can expand. Thank goodness I also have a wood stove to mitigate the cost of the propane. I can get a cord of wood for around $180. I bought a neat device from Lehman's Non-electric catalog (Amish country). It is a small fan, which sits atop the wood stove. It is powered by the heat rising from the stove. The fan is silent and does a good job of spreading heat. Lorna

Cheapest Mulch in Wheaton, IL area?

I live in Palatine. The mulch is free, but remember "you get what you pay for"... The best time to go is a week or two after a big storm - all the fallen limbs & broken branches around town end up here, so the wood is 'fresh' & somewhat healthy. But you'll also get alot of leaves still green mixed in. Sometimes mid-summer the quality isn't too good - I've found lots of garbage ground up with the plant material (plastic grocery store bags, broken glass, empty cigarette packs...). Sometimes residents bundle up very diseased & bug infested material to be recycled, and the village employees can't be expected to inspect everything they grind, so you're just giving these problems a free ride into your yard. Because I live close, it's easy to stop by to check the quality, and come back later if if looks spooky. I've also taken a few bags of good mulch from a very massive huge pile, & gone back 2 days later to find it's all gone. But if you do go, bring containers (I use plastic 'contractor clean-up bags') & shovel & gloves. You're digging it yourself from a pile. And the mice are friendly...

I prefer the Gas Buddy sites. They are updated by volunteers and can be updated several times a day. Even continually if there's enough people seeing it. It's better in the more populated areas of course, and I find it very valuable. You have control over which brands and locations are shown and you can choose how recent the info must be too. OMG...I was just going to post about this! I just went past the gas station closest to us..a fe wblocks away and it has gone up to 4.26 per gallon! For the cheap stuff! It has always been around 3.98 for the last few weeks. the other corner had it for 4.09. DS just called and said the one by his house actually came down a penny from yesterday, it's now 3.97! This guy will most likely have long lines all week end with lower prices. Smart thing to do..he'll sell more in the long run! I also heard that prices will go up again on Monday...probably because they know people that are out of town will need gas to get home and have to pay it!! This makes me sick! Luckily DH works within 15 minutes from home and we spend only $20.00 a week on gas right now. This is the first I've seen over 4.00 so far....it didn't look nice at all!

$3.97 very near my house. But not the station that's usually cheapest, so this is helpful to know.

$4.05 in my zip, but $3.99 in the next zip - same distance and an easier drive. I usually fill up at Costco & paid $3.99 there Wednesday afternoon.

O/T but FYI we paid $4.89 for gas for the boat at the marina last week - our boat has a 50 gal tank.

The cheapest listed for our town is $4.16, but that station is about 7 miles away. If I go to the Meijer in the next town, it is only 4 miles away and the gas is $4.19. But if I use my Meijer credit card I get 10 cents off per gallon thru labor day so then it is only $4.09. All Meijers are doing the 10 cents off per gallon thru Labor Day so if you have one nearby it's a great deal.

I use http://www.newjerseygasprices.com/ here. It's updated daily by real people who report in the prices they see on their commute/in their neighborhood. It's been a big help.

GasBuddy says my cheapest is $4.39, but frankly, a drive-by today reveals that $4.45 is about the cheapest. If we can gas up at Miramar's Exchange station, we try to do so.

Typing in my zip code gave me prices for the entire city of Houston, which is pretty silly since this city is huge geographically!

Looks like the cheapest is 3.79 at a station which is about 25 miles from my house. LOL But there is a station on the corner across the street from my office selling gas at 3.92 according to gasbuddy.

No gas biddy station listed for my zip code. The closest is Bakersfield at $4.39 but thatÂs down the canyon 60 miles. Here in Kernville gas is down from last week $4.76 to $4.63. I have to go down this week so I will fill up there.

I donÂt think gas prices stopped many people from coming up here. The lake was full of boats, all the camp grounds were full and the market was just crazy.
