ovens whirlpool or GE profile

ok. i'm down to WHIRLPool or GE Profile for convection wall oven and OTR microwave/convection. The exact model numbers aren't listed in CR. Is there anything that would help me swing one over the other?

My experience w/GE Profile appliances is that their cooking appliances are very good, reliable, and last a long time. DW & laundry, though, not so much.

We had a GE Profile convection smoothtop range in our old kitchen that was 13 years old when we redid our kitchen in early 2008...it looked and performed as well on the last day we used it as the first day. I was so pleased with that range that I immediately thought of GE Profile again in our new kitchen...and nothing came along to change our minds...

Well...Miele did try to seduce me to the dark side w/it's MasterChef & rotisserie (H4880BP)...I was going to pair it w/a GE Profile single Trivection oven...but then budget reared its ugly head and we went back to our original choice of the GE Profile Double ovens w/Trivection on top & convection on the bottom. [I do sometimes still think of the Miele with affection and breathe an occasional sigh of regret...]

We've been using our ovens for a year now and I absolutely love them! I use one or both several times a week... I bake a lot b/c I have to eat gluten-free and b/c, well, I like to bake! [FYI...the GE Profile & GE Monogram Trivection double ovens are identical functionally & construction-wise...the only differences are the styling, a free roasting pan w/Monogram, and the cost...a no-brainer for us!]

We also have a GE Profile cooktop and warming drawer. My DW is KA. My MW is a Sharp MW Drawer...also really like, btw!

[Our old range is still going strong...we donated it to our church and the family that received it couldn't believe what great shape it was in and were so excited to get a convection oven!]

I have double ovens that are GE Profile. The top is convection and the bottom is traditional. They both work well. I love to bake and cook. I've had them 6 years with no problems at all. I just replaced my GE dishwasher today with a Miele. It worked just fine, too. I'm just doing a small remodel - DW, cooktop, hood, countertops.

I throw in my 2 cents here as I have done my share of research. I should say that I am baffled as to why wall ovens are so fracking expensive. If someone can explain that to me I would be grateful. Right or wrong I ordered the single mid-line Bosch. Why? I liked the look & feel of it. None of the "American" brands have a look that I liked and didn't seem appreciably cheaper. FWIW, Bosch and Thermador are made in the same factory and have the same "guts". Thermador has a heavier look and is more automated in its feature set. I really don't care about having a separate convection element. Convection is all about even heat throughout the oven. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm sure the extra element is better but in real world usage I'm a bit skeptical that anyone could taste the difference. IMO, energy use should be a non-concern as what you're after is an excellent end result. I've never heard anyone say, gosh those snickerdoodles are awesome and only used .5 kilowatt hours!! Why someone would use convection when broiling a steak is beyond me. As much as possible I only want to heat one side of the meat at a time. I don't want the underside to be pre-cooked before turning. If I had it to do over again. I think I'd buy the bottom line Bosch, order the telescoping rack separately and save a couple hundred bucks. But that's just me.

I have a Kitchenaid 5 burner gas (not propane) stainless with a downdraft. Only problem with the cooktop: right after we got it my husband made a big batch of bean soup in one of those big tin roasters like your Mom used and set it over two burners. The iron grate got too hot and melted the rubber tips on the feet which keep it from scratching the cook top. Kitchenaid sent us a new one right away. Great service. The cooktop works pretty well for the price range but no comparison to a Viking gas stove I used to have once upon a time, but for the price it's pretty good. Better than the Jennair that I had yanked out, that's for sure. I would stay completely away from that one!!! As for the "downdraft" ....ugg...this is my third downdraft (various brands) and in my opinion there isn't a downdraft that works. May as well not even have one. They're #1: filthy and impossible to clean, and can get "stinky", #2: If you are using anything taller than a skillet everything goes right over the top of the downdraft and right into the house, #3: the only time they do slightly pull anything out is when you cook on the very back burner. You will still know you fried fish though, if you catch my drift! :) #4: if you are using a skillet on one of the front burners it goes right over the top of the downdraft and into the house. YOU CAN SEE IT! The solution: an overhead unit that pulls up and outside, which means you have to have overhead electric over your cook top, and venting as well. $$$$$$ Unfortunately I can't do that in my existing kitchen but believe me if I ever remodel I would get a setup that allowed for the overhead kind vented to the outside of the house. The ceiling in my kitchen is covered with grunge because DOWNDRAFTS DON'T WORK.
