I'm all for finding a savings where you can and never forget... appliances can always be changed out when/if they die. The GE induction, and I can't remember if it's the same for both the Monogram and Profile, require one of the largest clearances underneath with their induction tops. I believe at one point they required 12". I strongly suggest you pull the specs on the unit your purchased and check for the required clearance underneath. Since a wall oven installed under the counter has to be a certain amount of inches off the floor and are obviously a certain height; it could severely impact your ability to install it directly under your cooktop if that was your intention. I have decided to go with either to Diva or Miele since they have one of the smallest clearance. I think the Diva is only about 2". Good luck.

fenworth, We've made the TJ cookies tons of times at home using a GE Profile oven (as stated in my original post). We also made them in a Wolf oven at a Wolf center. In both the GE and the Wolf, the cookies come out fairly "normal", even when the dough is completely defrosted (which is not recommended). We did return to Miele, used a different oven in the store, and got the same flatter-than-flat cookies, even with a TJ box that was bought 15 minutes before entering the Miele store. I can't say whether or not the grease filter was installed during cookie baking - as a newbie to the Miele oven, that's not something I would have been aware of (I kind of hope the people working at the Miele center know how to use their own ovens.) Maybe it's this particular Miele store installation, or this particular cookie dough recipe, but there's definitely something different about the way the Miele ovens we've tried bake these cookies.

Yes, I have the GE Profile Trivection ovens and love them! I'd get them again. In the interests of full disclosure, though, I would probably also check the Miele ovens...but they are much more expensive...at least they were in 2007. Then and I suspect now, my opinion is that the Trivection ovens are a better deal. I find the Trivection function very easy to use and that it works as advertised. I love making baked white & sweet potatoes now. I used to MW them but the skins were always so soft and they never seemed as good as when baked in the oven. Now, I can bake them in approx 20 minutes and they're perfect...just as I like them....crispy skins & soft insides. Meat, poultry, breads, casseroles...they all cook faster and come out great. When I researched ovens back in 2007, both the Profile & Monogram lines carried the Trivection ovens. Both the GE and Monogram customer service reps (phone) told me the internals of the ovens were identical...the only differences b/w the Profile and Mongram were: (1) Aesthetics - the external appearance. I preferred the Profile look. (2) The Monogram came with a roasting pan (like all ovens used to), the Profile did not. I already had a couple of roasting pans, I didn't need another. (3) Price - the Monogram was a couple of thousand more, as I recall. Bottom line - the Profile & Monogram were identical where it mattered...so I got the Profile. One thing, they did not and still do not come with the full-extension racks. However, as they are wall ovens, I find it's not that big a deal b/c they're high enough that I can easily reach inside if needed.

Lvpinaustin--The GE Profile Trivection DO (JT980SKSS) has convection on the bottom...not just thermal. Check the "Use & Care Manual" and you will find instructions for using convection on the lower oven as well as the upper oven. As a matter of fact, the only differences b/w the GE Profile & GE Monogram are: (1) GE Monogram name (2) Monogram has a sleeker design (which to me, is actually a disadvantage as I donÂt particularly like the design) (3) Monogram includes the roasting rack, Profile does not (but, I have one from my current oven) (4) Cost! To verify, I both called Monogram and emailed their CS...both stated the above...and they admitted that internally and functionally, they are identical ovens. (They were a little defensive about it and insisted that any cost difference is justified b/c of their name value!) BTW...neither have full extension racks or "self-clean" racks nor do they have a meat probe. The Monogram folks were not aware of any plans to include the full-extension racks. I ordered the GE Profile. If the Monogram had had the full-extension racks OR a meat probe, I would have gone w/the Monogram even though I don't particularly like the "sleek" look (I do, however, like the newer "chunkier" look...but the Trivection doesn't come in the new look) HTH!
