Tom, I really have not look at the archives but about your question on the fall vegetables like broccoli, it is better to succession plant them a little at a time. I usually start mine in a big container and after that I put them in the garden. Broccoli can benefit to an early start since they take a very long time to grow. If you start your own seeds and supplement with good quality transplants bought at the nursery you can have a longer season. When I saw the way they grow seedlings at Knox nursery, I learned that they put something on the seedlings to make them short and bushy, of course they did not say what it was.-( I will start broccoli the first days of August. If you use the internal GardenWeb uploader which does one pic per post (not per thread, but per post) then if you don't have an external hosting site like Flickr or Photobucket, the pictures will always remain in the post. However, if you do post pictures from Flickr or Photobucket albums, should you ever DELETE those albums, the picture is removed from GardenWeb as well. The HTML code we use to upload from say Flickr to here is merely a marker to the actual location, and that's why we have blanks in some threads where once lovely images appeared. It is the one thing that keeps me from changing from Flickr, which is undergoing the reorganization and change of focus since Yahoo bought it. Likewise, I use Yahoo mail, and it is a real pain in the derriere what they are doing to my email! I get so tired of them tinkering with something that is NOT BROKEN. Plus, I am really horrified that websites keep trying to force me to sign in with Facebook or Twitter, when I try to stay far far away from those sites. It is "group think" and I do not intend to expose my life to such invasions of privacy. The latest Firefox upgrade did something to my "default" apps/programs to play music or sound, and I was very puzzled suddenly not to do slide shows and such. Perhaps it is the latest Firefox upgrade, Berndny, which you too ran afoul of. I fixed my problem by changing from Windows Media Player to the Quicktime Player built into Firefox. Having to think about the background operations of the system is really frustrating, when all I want to do is ignore the system and enjoy the material. Seamless is good, forget the rest.

I think I was off on part of my complaint. In figuring out the archived cottage garden messages, I forgot to account for the three different sections of the forum: Discussion, Conversations, and Gallery. When I add those in, I get about the same total as other forums I see here. I apologize for the mistake. The main issue still stands, though. iVillage gives us a paltry amount of storage space for old messages. If each text message takes up 100K of storage space, which I think is way over-generous, 2000 messages times about 250 forums adds up to 50 Meg of storage space. You could put that into a small corner of the hard drive on your oldest computer and never know it was there. I'm sure iVillage could afford to give us 100 times that much space without even buying a new hard drive. C'mon iVillage, what do you say? ThinMan
