Thanks everyone. I'm making progress. Bought a shallower heavy duty rubber small animal feed bowl (6 gal), a more reliable pump, and finally figured out that the conflicting advice was based on my having a fountain without an integral reservoir. The two nursery people I spoke to couldn't understand my confusion because we were talking about different kinds of fountains. I will drain the current too big bucket, but I have to tell you the vole that fell into a month ago sank to bottom in one state and arose again-still very dead- in another. It has got to come out of there! I have to overcome my squeamishness, put a big throwaway container in there and pick up the meat and toss it all in the woods. Then I can proceed. You guys are so great. I would have abandoned this project a while ago without you. idabean/Marie

I would suggest if you are allowed to download programs to get this free program which is the best around for removing malware, this will be ok to have along with your antivirus. download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop. * Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program. * At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. * Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan. * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. * Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. * When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt download link Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware this is a free program but can be purchased to get the automated version. Go ahead and get that and run it and see if it finds more malware to eliminate. And I am glad you did not use a registry cleaner they can cause serious issues if not used properly. It's a little complex because two or more controlling software's might be trying to control the machine's behavior. First educate yourself about what brings it out of sleep mode. I know that the modem can (by a phone call coming in the comptuer can be woken up so as to take the call be it a fax or internet) Since dialup is dead to most people know that the network card can work the same way. So turn off the 'wake upon lan" or similar setting that means this: When the LAN (network card) gets a request to transfer data it wakes up the computer. You can shut this off but where? It can be set in many places. The bios might have a setting. Windows might have a setting for it. And any software for the network card itself could have a setting. (This is often part of the Windows setting section) Go poke and search these bits first. Without knowing the network and modem cards are not going to wake up the computer you are wasting time. Verify they aren't at fault first. I'll check back in a few days. Andre
