Need help with problem after Firefox update

I updated Firefox to the newest version 22. When I opened it afterwards, the top portion where the tabs and address bar are, is huge, as are the icons there. It's over three inches from top to bottom. Above the Taskbar is also quite large. My monitor is a widescreen, and I now have only about four and a half inches of viewing space. I can change the webiste font sizes, so that's no big deal.

I've had Firefox for many years and have never had this problem after an update. How do I shrink the top and bottom sections to where I want tthem?

Sorry, zep. I couldn't find anything that helped. One thing I saw was someone saying: I was able to disable scaling by setting layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to 1 instead of -1. Now everything looks like it did before the change. It might as well have been written in Greek, because I sure didn't understand what he was saying. I'm thinking of maybe going back to version 21.

I have never seen a firefox add-on called that, I did a search on firefox extensions page and nothing with realplayer in the name even came up. That is a new one on me. You can always try getting Real Player again should you find you need it. Or you can get something like Real Alternative which will play Real stuff and is light and easy. Download Real Alternative RealPlayer as stated by MozillaZine you have 2 alternatives for Real media. since you gave me the exact name I googled it and sure enough it apparently does appear for some people and it looks like it is causing a lot of problems and it can be disabled here are the results Here is a link that might be useful: search result

I lost 'spell check' years ago on Firefox. I could not get it back and it disappeared on all my computers (XP and Win 7). Never could find the solution and tried the various fixes FF offers. Just wondering if anyone gets 'spell-check' on FF anymore? Lynn, sorry to jump in on your post but glad to know you found a fix. Jane

I get the paid version of Windows Secrets and I would guess you are talking about the article on Windows Genuine Advantage? They should be called on the carpet for making us continue to go through that over and over it is ridiculous, make us do it once and be done with it. I did not see any mention of this last patch Tuesdays updates causing any problems, they do mention the patches for IE and their importance. I have only seen on a few forums some very minor issues but none like this 98 thing. I have run this windows 98 issue by a few MS MVP's and no one has seen or hear of it happening and all want to know the outcome so please arkie62 keep us posted on what you do and your outcomes please. you are welcome, I also did that update today on my firefox 2 and it went very smoothly with no errors, I think it was the last time I did the update that I saw the same error you mentioned. I know I do have a few older addons that are no longer updated and it might be that it tries to connect to those and it does not work, but I am just guessing LOL
