Capital owners - question on the infrared grill

Hello captial owners - particurally the 36" infrared grill owners:

I am thinking about getting this. Any real world experience on this usage and how you think it compares to the wolf infrared grill.

I have the 48". The grill works great, but can't compare it to the Wolf since I haven't used the Wolf grill. The downside is it's tough to clean.

"My ultimate stove would be a the new model 30 inch capital with the infra-red grill but with bluestars four stovetop burners..." Well, what about getting a Blue Star and one of these (or some other type of outdoor infrared grill)? It would kinda/sorta cover all your requirements, and save you quite a bit of money. I have both (RNB30 and the Turbo Sport), and I think it's a great compromise. Yes, I have to go outside to grill. BUT, these infrared grills create a HUGE amount of smoke! It's their operating temperatures -- they're literally incinerating grease, which results in flare-ups (if not careful) and copious, billowing clouds of grilling essence! I'm eagerly awaiting the first reports from new Capital range/grill homeowners with under-performing hoods -- should be quite entertaining!

Is Capital a good brand for Grills

We did a lot of research recently into grills of the level of Fire Magic and Capital (and DCS, OCI, Lynx, etc.). We chose Capital based on its engineering and attention to detail. You can't go wrong with either brand. What sold us on Capital were the grates, infrared rotisserie burner and space for food on the rotis, zone cooking baffles, flash tube ignition if needed, and a very fast response when we e-mailed customer service with a question (sent late one Saturday evening, they responded within 2 hours). Hi everyone, Just wanted to let you know that once again Capital has proven themselves as having outstanding customer service. Joey has contacted me, and I have just sent him photos of the burners on. I did fwd my email that I had sent to Bob to the general customer service email address and they forwarded it to Joey. They are graciously replacing my discs and the burner grates. I consider this above and beyond. I fully expected an explanation on how to get the grates to look black again. So this is why people love Capital. When a problem arises, they do help. And Trevor. You truly are wonderful. I had copied the salesman at the local store where I bought my range on my note to Bob (last Friday), which included the photos. It's sort of sad that a Capital dealer in MA responds to my concerns and yet my local store does nothing. Then again, I'm not surprised. Thank you Capital and Joey for restoring my faith in Capital! And Thank You Trevor. Maybe I'll be visiting your store sometime soon to check out the Culinarian! Yay

As long as you have adequate make-up air (MUA) to go along with the 1200 CFM, you should have no issues. I have 1500 CFM with a passive MUA. 1200 should be more than enough. I have a friend who put in a Viking and a 1200 CFM and it smoked. After talking to him, it turns out that he didn't factor in MUA at all. I advised him to open his windows BEFORE grilling, while the grill was warming up. That made it much better, to the point where he could use the grill again. I have a 48" CC with the 12" grill and I use it all the time, at least weekly. I even use it in the summer instead of my Weber outside. The CC's grill is a much better grill and I prefer cooking on it. If you do get the grill, your only regret might be that you didn't get the 24" grill. Oh yes! I would be interested also, as I am getting the 36" Capital with grill. Does it all fall onto the pan that pulls out?

Oh my - I did not mean to scare you all! It functions beautifully. I am just neurotic about having everything look nice. It will never look brand new once you use it. Yes, all the drippings fall into the pan which cleans perfectly. You have to keep in mind that I never cleaned an outdoor grill before. DH did that. I like everything to look perfect. The top of the range and the ovens clean so easily and always look good as new. The grill will have black marks on the grill portion that I can't get off which bugs me. I'm probably unrealistic in that area.

When I was looking at the Capital RT, one of the things I liked was the pan that pulls out to clean, AND, it looked like the burner areas would be easy to keep clean.

I really think we will use our grill on our Capital, once it is installed.

Mainly steaks. The burner areas clean so well, I am always amazed. Thank goodness the grill area has a cover so the range always looks great when not in use.

Do you have any pictures of your range you can post up of all angles of the range you can share with us? I only see stock photos of the unit on the web and would like to see it in a real kitchen setting as well as close up details, handle, knobs, grill top, etc

It would be great to see what I will be buying as I can't find it in any local showroom.

I too would like some info on the Capital Infrared Grill.

The price of the manual clean was attractive but, I know I need the self-cleaning model to get the infrared.

I was quoted $5700 and I get the rotissiere and the self-clean and it will still cost almost $3000 less than the Wolf.

I don't know why I just haven't bought it yet, but any info would help.
