I don't want pics in desktop backgrounds list!

How do I prevent each picture that I take with my digital camera or what was sent to me in an e-mail from showing up in the list for desktop backgrounds?

How do I remove them from such list?

This just irks me that it's automatically done. If I want the bleeping picture as a background, I'll set it as such, thank you very much Mr. Gates & crew!

"You can use a personal picture as a background. All of your personal pictures located in My Pictures are listed by name in the Background list."

Are you talking about your screensaver where you can have pictures scrolling from your computer? If so..there is a place you can click on control panel..screensaver...settings and there you can choose which pictures you wish to display.

To remove the pictures from your desktop background list, you'll have to remove them from the My Pictures folder in My Documents.
With My Documents open, you can right click and select New Folder, name it Pictures or something, then copy and paste your pictures into the new folder. They won't show up in the backgrounds list if they are in a different folder.

To prevent new saved photos from showing up on the list, start saving them to a different location such as the new folder.
Once you start saving them somewhere else besides My Pictures, Windows should remember the path to the new location.

Thanks Mikie, but I have IE 7 and don't have anything that looks like that pic or anything similar that I can see via IE>tools>internet options> and checked all of the tabs...thus no way to change things that way. Am I missing something there? Might anyone know that has IE 7? Should I maybe just update to IE 8? Advantages? Disadvantages? It seems there should be some way to get the setting right in IE. btw...a friend had been here, so when I went to the Windows live log-in page it was also showing her email addy too. Just for kicks and giggles I clicked on her email addy to see it if would go to her In box without asking for a password. No go...it asked for a password on hers.

kelly~ After posting on another thread to see more of your house photos, I did a search and this thread came up. OMG!!!! Your house turned out SPECTACULAR. It is soooo gorgeous. I love it all. There's not one thing I see that I think should be different. It is perfect. I too love the kitchen, the wood ceiling, the stone walls, and both of the showers. That slate is amazing! That's the most gorgeous application of slate I've ever seen (and I happen to adore slate!!). I am so happy that you have moved in. How goes the progress? Are you hosting the holiday's in your gorgeous new home? It would be a crime to keep that beauty all to yourselves. LOL. :o) Is that an outdoor shower? My goodness. I could just look at your photos all day. The trees in the front are gorgeous. The view looks amazing. The colors are perfect. The wood is sublime. Girl, you couldn't have done it better. It's stunning. And I too can see why you have oodles of equity in it already! Many happy years in your new home. :o) SusanL~ I too bought the Harrod's Creek plans from Cornerstone. We ended up not building that plan (too expensive for the area we were in... it was "overbuilding" for there). We purchased a home in your state and are having it finished. So now we're "neighbors". I hope you'll post photos of your house as you progress. It was my favorite home, and I still hope to build it somewhere, someday. :o)

Good to know I'm not alone. Annie, the coconut ones are just meant to be eaten like candy, but I've also made plain and chocolate coated plain ones and cut them smaller for cocoa. December's Fine Cooking magazine has a cake on the cover that is topped with homemade marshmallows cut in tiny cubes. On another forum, someone is packaging homemade marshmallows along with a cube of chocolate (molded in an ice cube tray) speared on a candy cane stick. The idea is to heat a cup of milk, then stir with the chocolate cube/peppermint stick to melt the chocolate into the milk and top with the marshmallows - upscale cocoa. I'm going to try to remember that idea for next year. I'll take pictures! LOL Jane

Green granites I don't see listed on FKB

Thank you, everyone!! Went back to the granite yard today and happened to ask about this one granite that blew us away (the only one that did but was marked "sold" the other day). It was called "Water Green". (This might also be "Waterfall Green" but it doesn't look like pics on the internet of Waterfall Green). Anyway, as I was walking by I happened to ask once more about the Water Green and it was suddenly available...and REDUCED! The problem is the slabs are relatively small and it might be ONE INCH SHORT for our island (the bigger slab). We are going to meet the fabricator again tomorrow to see if he thinks we can make it work. It is a more "vein-y" type granite--almost like a marble rather than a granite. The most gorgeous, iridescent, bling-y granite we saw. Quiet, yet loud yet spectacular--just what I had in mind!! Anyway, we've picked a Verde Tunas as backup and while it's not my favorite, it probably "goes" the best with our multicolor slate floors--is relatively quiet and has that gray/green quality that won't compete in the room. I am hoping the Water Green wins out, but prepared that it might be the Verde Tunas. Any more Verde Tunas pictures or Water(fall) Green? I have seen all the granite and marble websites but the pics just don't convey as well as they do when they are on cabinets.

I know I was shocked when I went to Desktop/Background and saw this long list of photos that I never had any intentions of using as backgrounds, and there was no way of removing them from the list there.
Had to search around and find the source of the photos.
Turned out to be My Photos as the place they were coming from, funny to because all the standard Windows backgrounds and wallpapers like Bliss, etc. are in C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper or
C:\WINDOWS

Since I couldn't figure out how to make a new folder, I moved pics I didn't want at desktop/background or screensaver to My Documents & started saving new pictures into My Documents.

If you would rather have them in a separate folder you can make one by opening your my documents folder and click on File > New > Folder. You can then give it a name of your choice and move your pictures into it. If you don't want the new folder in the my documents folder you can open the c drive, or any folder and do the same thing.
