Kindle & Mac help

I went to Amazon Kindle help for this but I didn't get a lot of help so I am hoping someone here can assist me. I have a Kindle Fire, and the last book I ordered did not download. I tried transferring via usb cable and transferring it from my Amazon-Kindle list of books and nothing worked. The Amazon rep told me it was because I didn't have the lastest software update for my Kindle, but we had a heck of a time getting the software update to download to my kindle. She kept telling me to download it to my C drive, but I don't know where that is on my mac (sorry!). I finally ended up with a folder on my desktop which is labeled "update Kindle" and which contains files from 2013 and 2011. Back up files. boot files. But I cannot do anything with it as far as downloading to my Kindle. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the softward update to my Kindle or should I go back to Amazon and hope I get a more helpful person next time?

Have you tried the kindle help forums on amazon? I help out over there but don't have a MAC so can't help you with that. If you click the contact us button over in that help forum you will get kindle customer service not just general amazon customer service.

You should just be able to look on your kindle what ever model and if you don't have the latest software update it right on the kindle but it's been so long since I had an update to my first generation one I could be wrong but if your software is not up to date you should be getting a notice on the kindle itself to update so that's strange.

Did you try clicking sync on the fire to see if the book then shows up? Sometimes I have found it takes more than a minute for the book to come through. What model fire do you have? Does the book not show up in your library on the device at all to click on and download? Mary

Thanks crafty lady. I did go to the KIndle help section of Amazon. But I talked to an Amazon rep not another kindle user so I will see if I can get any help from an real kindle user.
I have had the kindle fire for a while, and never got any notifications that I needed software updates. I have had intermittent problems with it, however, so perhaps this is what is going on. The book did not show up in my library on the Kindle. It was listed among my books on amazon but it would never transfer. I will try amazon again and see if I get any farther.

Interesting question! We need to find someone with a copy of the Combined Rose List to check on the "official" spelling for you. As far as the liquor itself is concerned, he general rule is that whiskies from Scotland and Canada are spelled "whisky," while those from Ireland are spelled "whiskey." Whiskies from the United States generally carry the "e" also, but not always. Since the cocktail known as a Whisky Mac uses Scotch, it probably SHOULD be spelled without the "e." Then again, the rose is German (bred by Tantau), so the original name might be completely different!

The second of two steps that suzieque posted, regarding removing books from your Kindle: "2) then go to Amazon.com on your computer and find "Manage Your Kindle". That'll show everything you've downloaded. Find the book you want to delete and on the right hand side under "Actions", click delete." I don't have an issue with suzieque's first step in the process, but I personally disagree with this second step. If your goal is to remove the book from your Kindle device to free up space (or for any other reason), all you need to do is step 1. What's the harm in leaving the book in your Kindle items in your Amazon account??? You have one heck of a huge amount of storage space in the Amazon cloud; and should you ever want to read the book again, or check something in it, etc., you can do that as long as it's in your account. Yes, if it's not in your Amazon account you can still download it again as long as Amazon still has it available; but even if it's available it might not be free at that time. An example: a book I downloaded for free in January of last year is Unbillable Hours: A True Story. I thought it was great, and told my husband (who is an attorney) that he should download it to his Kindle, too. But, it was $11.99 when he went to download it, so he passed on that and he read it on my Kindle. I just looked up the book on Amazon, and today the Kindle price is $8.99. I don't need wifi to order my books from amazon. I do not even have wifi capability on mine. I hit the menu bar on lower right, then move the dark line under turn wireless on. Wait until the reception bars at top are filled. Then you can order from amazon if you have your kindle registered with them. Sometimes it says 3G and sometimes it doesn't- don't know why! Don't forget to turn wireless off or it will use up battery fsst. I think mine is the first or second model.

Have you even contacted Amazon at all or the site where you bought the books? I own several kindles and amazon has the most excellent tech support with help for their kindles. You can either post on the kindle forums or call Amazon so there is really no need to take your tower out of the house. You don't even need to hook the kindle to the computer to get files on it. You do have wifi in your house don't you? What happened when you installed send to kindle on your computer and tried that? Are you sure the files you bought are in a format for the kindle? I think you should contact the site where you bought the files and make sure other wise you are waisting your time taking your tower out of house to get them transferred if they are not in the right format for the kindle.
