Tonight I was reading in bed and when I went to shut off my Kindle fire HD I must have pushed something I shouldn't have.. Now I cant get in it and I got it shut off but now the unlock tab won't work. It outlines in yellow and nothing happens. I had something up on the screen that had all kinds of apps on it. It said that the touch won't work while the app screen was up on it. It said something about double tapping it in the lower left hand corner where it said exit and I tried that but it didn't work. Can someone please help me?

Contact Kindle support at Amazon. They solved my problem yesterday. They are always glad to help.
You can have them call you, which I did. Good luck.

Might try a hard reset...
"all you have to do is connect the device "FIRE" on your charger then press the power switch and hold it for 30 seconds. then just press the power switch once more to turn on the device =) if its still not working you might need to call amazon kindle support 1-877-453-4512. "

Have you tried the kindle help forums on amazon? I help out over there but don't have a MAC so can't help you with that. If you click the contact us button over in that help forum you will get kindle customer service not just general amazon customer service. You should just be able to look on your kindle what ever model and if you don't have the latest software update it right on the kindle but it's been so long since I had an update to my first generation one I could be wrong but if your software is not up to date you should be getting a notice on the kindle itself to update so that's strange. Did you try clicking sync on the fire to see if the book then shows up? Sometimes I have found it takes more than a minute for the book to come through. What model fire do you have? I am not very familiar with the fire, but here's a couple things to try that work on most android tablets. Hold down the power button for a very long time, some times that works, I mean a really long time 20 seconds usually. Then hit the power button again if it doesn't start right away. Next hold down the power button and the volume up button together at the same time again for a long time. It will usually reset. If not plug in the charger leave it for 10-15 minutes, try doing all of the above steps with it still plugged in. I don't know if it has a tiny reset button, usually have to stick a paper clip into the little hole to push it. Some tablets have one. Look at your manual to see if it shows one. There's some very good Kindle forums you can ask there. I wish I knew more but I don't own one.

to everyone who gave me advice. I went to Bismarck yesterday and hooked up to wifi and by the time I checked it, it said no new updates but my kindle is working just fine now. I think it automatically updated on its own. Now I can play CC whenever I want. TYVM
