Firefox update and Adobe flash player update

I updated Firefox to 3.6.4 and it took me to the updated page. Advised me that I should update Adobe Flash Player right now.(my current version 10 can cause security and stability issues. Please install the free update as soon as possible). I clicked on the link and it took me to adobe and I clicked on update Adobe flash player, but it installed an add-on (Adobe DLM) in Firefox. It did not update my flash player.

it probably did both, go to the flash check site and see what version it tells you that you currently have.

The FF upgrade was released today. It is nothing expansive as it only addresses a security issue and a stability issue.

The IE version of Flash Flash Player 10.1.53.64 upgrade was released on July 11th.

Flash Player is browser dedicated so you must be certain to download the appropriate upgrade. The most convenient way to upgrade Flash Player is to open the target browser, go to Adobe.com, download the appropriate upgrade.

DA, watch that thinking while eating lunch...it's bad for the digestion! However it is much appreciated. Below are the answers to your questions. 1. Each browser must have its own flash install and you must get, download, install the specific version for the browser you are using. So for firefox use firefox to download the firefox version of flash, install, for IE go with it get the ie version and install. I generally get the flash at filehippo just search for non ie flash on Google. I would suggest adding the adblock plus add on with the easylist subscription to block the ads which will help speed page load quite a bit. Definitely make sure that your adobe products as well as java are fully updated and it is essential to remove the old versions just having them on the pc leaves the security issues there. Go with each browser and update.

Thanks Mikie, again! It is the same one I tried to install. It has their toolbar. Its almost impossible to get rid of it once installed. They have made it mandatory to take their seach toolbar with the free ZA. Probably even throw it in with the paid version. Last year you could install by clicking 'skip all offers' but even clicking it installs the search toolbar. I'm running Win XP and need a firewall. Jane

Thanks for the responses ! mikie -- Thanks for the links ! I uninstalled, restarted and then installed both versions you linked to. (I also have Comodo Dragon [Chrome] on my computer but rarely use it. We'll see if I still get some sort of error that that browser needs an AFP update.) Btw, when installing for FF I had to close the browser. When installing for IE I was not told to close the browser. Not being an IE user, I don't know if that is a big deal or not. But everything went smoothly. Thanks, mikie ! azinoh -- There are two user accounts on this computer. Mine is not THE admin account, but it does have administrator authority when necessary. I did the update for each browser as you suggested and used mikie's links. :-) esteban -- Although in most cases I do things the way owbist describes above, this time I used the Snipping Tool that comes with Windows 7. I saved the pic to my desktop and clicked "Browse" (next to "Image file to upload" above the composition area). Piece of cake. (Or pumpkin pie, if you prefer.) :-) I have not rebooted since doing these installations, but as far as I can tell my situation is resolved. Thanks for the help! :-)

Thats the DownLoad Manager that will download and install the Adobe Flash Player.

Are you sure that 'Adobe DLM' is in the firefox add-on's and not your firefox download folder?

Perhaps its in the firefox download folder and if so I would probably right click and open the containing folder, Then double click it - which should install flash player.

.. then the next time you are at a site that requires flash player plug in for mozila .. you should get a popup and that popup will install the firefox plugin.

I'm not a firefox lover but keep it for reference and what I described above is how it worked here seeminly fine.

The DML in in my firefox add-0ns

When I go to the links that you have provided, it takes me to the very same page that installed this add-on

I have Adobe Flash Player 10.0.22.87
And Adobe Flash player plugin 10.0.42.34

According to the Adobe page, the latest version is 10.0.45.2

I clicked on a picture to enlarge the pic on ebay and this message came up. (was not able to get a screenshot)

The version you have listed is NOT the latest Flash player. The latest is 10.1.53.64, which is what is shown on Mikie's link.

Adobe Download Manager FAQ

you do know you have to shut down the browser and restart it for it to show the updated version right? And you need to install it on each browser.

this is how to install it with out the DLM installing
Install Adobe Flash Without Adobe DLM
you should be able to remove the DLM in control panel add remove programs, be sure all browsers are closed before you uninstall it.

In answer to your question about it prompting the UAC:
Adobe DLM will launch a download manager upon the next start of Firefox. This download manager will open an UAC prompt in Windows Vista and Windows 7 and download the latest version of Adobe Flash afterwards.

I downloaded the DLM again this morning and THIS time it went into the control panel. I now have the latest versions for both IE and Firefox.
