Firefox update and Adobe flash player update

I updated Firefox to 3.6.4 and it took me to the updated page. Advised me that I should update Adobe Flash Player right now.(my current version 10 can cause security and stability issues. Please install the free update as soon as possible). I clicked on the link and it took me to adobe and I clicked on update Adobe flash player, but it installed an add-on (Adobe DLM) in Firefox. It did not update my flash player.

it probably did both, go to the flash check site and see what version it tells you that you currently have.

The FF upgrade was released today. It is nothing expansive as it only addresses a security issue and a stability issue.

The IE version of Flash Flash Player 10.1.53.64 upgrade was released on July 11th.

Flash Player is browser dedicated so you must be certain to download the appropriate upgrade. The most convenient way to upgrade Flash Player is to open the target browser, go to Adobe.com, download the appropriate upgrade.

Zep, thank you for helping. Just before I read your last post I went to the Adobe forum and other people were having the same problems tonight. Someone had already posted links using a 32 bit download so I tried that and it worked and the regular Shockwave Plug in showed up on my plug in page as enabled. I don't know what 32 bit or 64 bit means or even if I need the 64 bit but I will see if this works. You helped me a few years ago with a computer problem I had so thank you again. Anne

I found some step by step instructions from AumHa Forums. A caveat before you start...back up the registry before making any changes. If you don't know how to do this, please ask and I will offer step by step instructions. The steps to uninstall non functioning Adobe Flash Player and replace it with Adobe Flash Player 9 Stand Alone: Download the following two applications: Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157 Adobe Flash Player 9 Stand-alone Installer (NB: Link to the Direct Download of the updated executable): http://www.macromedia.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_ie Check in Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, for any entry "Adobe Flash Player Active X" and uninstall the entry. With no other application running, run the Uninstaller you downloaded earlier. In the Registry editor (regedit), navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Code Store Database\DistributionUnits\(D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000) In the Left-hand pane, right-click on the key (folder) named (D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000), and choose Delete. Exit the registry editor. Reboot your computer. With no other application running, run the Adobe Flash Player 9 stand-alone installation you downloaded earlier. Reboot your computer. Yes, PK, I made sure when I got new computer that tech installed the paid version of Adobe, and am glad I did. I got a surprise visit from him one day shortly after I wrote the forum, and he straightened things out for me. I was unable to actually see what he did, cuz the phone rang, and while I was answering, he finished up, waved and left. Not that I am crying about it, just wish I had known what I might have done, and what to do to repair it. Just hoping now, that I don't update ANYTHING and goof up the machine again. So far, so good, back to business of making pdf's, and making progress in the batch that was left waiting for me. Thanks for your interest, appreciate so much all inquiries.

Thats the DownLoad Manager that will download and install the Adobe Flash Player.

Are you sure that 'Adobe DLM' is in the firefox add-on's and not your firefox download folder?

Perhaps its in the firefox download folder and if so I would probably right click and open the containing folder, Then double click it - which should install flash player.

.. then the next time you are at a site that requires flash player plug in for mozila .. you should get a popup and that popup will install the firefox plugin.

I'm not a firefox lover but keep it for reference and what I described above is how it worked here seeminly fine.

The DML in in my firefox add-0ns

When I go to the links that you have provided, it takes me to the very same page that installed this add-on

I have Adobe Flash Player 10.0.22.87
And Adobe Flash player plugin 10.0.42.34

According to the Adobe page, the latest version is 10.0.45.2

I clicked on a picture to enlarge the pic on ebay and this message came up. (was not able to get a screenshot)

If I allow the changes, is this going to install the latest flash player?

The version you have listed is NOT the latest Flash player. The latest is 10.1.53.64, which is what is shown on Mikie's link.

Adobe Download Manager FAQ

you do know you have to shut down the browser and restart it for it to show the updated version right? And you need to install it on each browser.

this is how to install it with out the DLM installing
Install Adobe Flash Without Adobe DLM
you should be able to remove the DLM in control panel add remove programs, be sure all browsers are closed before you uninstall it.

In answer to your question about it prompting the UAC:
Adobe DLM will launch a download manager upon the next start of Firefox. This download manager will open an UAC prompt in Windows Vista and Windows 7 and download the latest version of Adobe Flash afterwards.

I downloaded the DLM again this morning and THIS time it went into the control panel. I now have the latest versions for both IE and Firefox.
