Adobe flash and java updates

Last week I updated both of these and since have been having freeze ups on my HP Pav dv6 with win 7, 64 bit, homepremium. I am using Firefox. I know this has happened before with updates and someone here had a problem and a fix that was posted worked for me too. Search doesn't bring it up. Any help would be appreciated.

As this is a Windows 7 machine it has the capability to check itself for errors.

Try looking near the clock for a pennant style flag, hover over or click to read if it has found anything and follow any instructions.

Alternately Click Control panel
click Find and Fix problems, this is under the System and Security header.

Or once in System and Security window click the Action Centre link in the lower left corner and see what transpires.

are you using firefox 6? if so there are compatibility issues with it and java and flash so that may be part of the problem.

javara is a very legit and safe program we have used and recommended it for years on the help forums. the old ones can be removed manually but using javara just makes it easy and gets some that you may miss manually. any versions you show other than the latest version can be removed. Java has recently added a feature that is supposed to remove the old version it is replacing but they never put out anything that would remove the versions prior to that so it is not surprising to see some very old versions still listed on older pcs. How I would proceed, do the update from the java icon on the pc, that should provide you with 7-7, then run javara and let it remove all other versions it finds.

Oh RavenCajun, I'm trying to stay calm but hubby is going to freak if I have to tell him I got Trojans on a practically new computer. *taking deep breaths* You're right (again! lol)....some of these programs seem to automatically download things I didn't want. In the Remove programs area I found things that I knew could be included with other items I downloaded but I never wanted them, but there they were! Examples: Open Office, Google Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar, Webshots something-or-other, etc. I promise to be much more careful in the future by making sure to inspect for something that is checked as if I want it, but don't. I just did the fix owbist suggested and yes I am using Firefox 6. I will see if the first fixed it, if not I will uninstall FF 6 and use the previous one. Thank you.

If there is an issue it must be associated with W7 only as my Vista has worked just fine with v6.0, and now with v6.01, along with all the current Flash, Shockwave and Java upgrades.

That would be interesting too as the foundation code for Vista and W7 are 80% the same.

I did do the Windows 7 fix problems. It said it fixed one issue. I am still getting the freeze freq on Firefox so I guess I will have to uninstall and reinstall an earlier version.

If that doesn't help

When exactly does Firefox freeze? What are you doing when it does it? Try running Firefox in Firefox in Safe mode for a while, not windows safe mode firefox has it's own and runs the browser with out any add / ons.

Firefox 6.02 maybe might your problem, but it does sound like an add on problem.

10.3.187.7 flash is current ... google identified 400 reasons flash crashes & this is the 3rd or 4th recent update since that was spoken... perhaps still working on those crash reasons.

I messed up the flash version .. sh/b 10.3.183.7

Uninstall flaah regular then run this...

Restart computer then install your flash players....

Is Adobe recomendations when having problems.

Think I'd uninstall Firefox including personal.. too. Then install todays version 6.02

FF 6.0.1 and 6.0.2 Final release are both focused on the correction of one error which most of us wouldn't even notice. If you have v6.0 you might be better off just staying with it rather than upgrading.

FF v7.0 Beta 3 was released on 9/1 and FF v8.0 (Aurora) is released in early beta.
