I don't know your story but it sounds like it really sux. Did you take your own advice and purchase with Amex or are you SOL 366 days later?

While you evidently had a bad experience with Best Buy, I don't see why it's their fault that the oven broke down a year after you had it installed. If you are in fact one day out of warranty I would try to calmly speak with the mfr and see if they'd do something for you.

What a pain, to say the least. It never would have occurred to me to go to Best Buy for an oven. I didn't even know they had them. I hope things start going better for you.

Well, dammit! That's a shame and a huge nuisance.

I would never have thought to go to Best Buy either. I only think of them for TVs, and similar electronics. Sears usually comes to mind for appliances, as well as some local stores and small local chains. I wonder if what they sell is all the same? I'd never buy appliances at Home Depot, either. I wonder if there is areason for that or if we are all brain washed by advertising?

When I got my GE profile range a few years ago, it needed immediate resusitation. Annoying.

Repeat after me..."never best buys....never best buys never best buys" The only reason to darken their door might be to look for a certain CD that your grand kids requested.
And those of us living in Iowa know the Whirlpool saga.
Remember the old Carnation ads? "Milk from contented cows?'...While some mfg-ers put out appliances made by "pi$$ed off workers" and you know what that leads to!
Sorry about your mess....I could let you borrow my toaster oven...

Oh no! What a pain! Sigh, I did buy my dryer at Best Buy, but only because it was out of stock everywhere else and would have taken about 4 weeks to arrive. They were in stock at BB and it arrived the next day. We did have to have our big screen TV from there serviced (new tube, routine maintainance every 3 or so years). It took them 2 weeks to come out, and it took the repair guy about 30 seconds to do the repair, and the part was in stock when I called. Next time I will tell them to send me the part!

The good news, well more like 'Damage Control' is we signed up for PSE&G appliance repair coverage and in 13 more days I can call and make a repair claim. They've done well for me in the past so hopefully this time will go as well. FOAS, we've been down the reasonable path with both BB and WP to no avail regardless of the horrendous history of this unit.

Sands, when I've had a disappointing experience with something like you've had, I tend to use it as an opportunity to upgrade to something else. I hope it all works out for you soon.

You're really not in a bizzare universe you're in todays reality when it comes to home appliances. While I shouldn't say they're all junk they're bordering on it in many cases. I think it has more to do with all the electronics in them than the actual manufacturing aspect. Every recall is something to do with a "board" that fails, or a "board" that overheats and has caused fires. The touch pad controls fail as well as electronic temperature sensors in fridges and stoves. These things never happened that often when there was little to no electronic wizardry in appliances. Gas stoves, well the pilot light got replaced with electronic ignition and now you have more failures with those than anyone ever had pilot light problems.
