Was talking with my daughter earlier, and she told me her boyfriend was going to watch the Boston Marathon today, that it really is a city event, blah, blah, blah.

She was in class when this happened, so I texted him. Cannot tell you how relieved I was when I saw him text back. He told me that "We're okay. everyone is confused. We saw it happen but we're far away and safe now." My daughter sounded sick when I talked with her. She's so sad for everyone. They are growing up in a different world.

I'm still sick. Prayers for everyone.

CNN is doing the best job of reporting. There was another explosion at the JFK Library.

I am just appalled at some of the pictures I have seen posted by news reporting sites. Victims deserve privacy at these times, not to have their broken bodies published on the internet.

Cathy, so glad the boyfriend is okay.

I agree that some privacy should be respected. It's not like we need to see the injuries, photos of victims are unnecessary right now. Media could just report the facts, instead of sensationalizing everything. (sigh)

My prayers and thoughts are with everyone there, and with law enforcement as they struggle to complete the investigation and find out who is behind this and why.

I had a strange experience today. I went to an outlet mall (bleah) near me today. I stopped at Starbucks for some coffee and put my shopping bag on the chair opposite me. When I was done I walked away without the bag. A young woman stopped me and said "you forgot your bag". I thanked her profusely and she said "we have to be careful anymore about bags left behind." That gave me the chills.

One news report I saw today zeroed in on a hockey skate of someone on an NHL team in black felt pen it said "Pray for Boston" Those are the type of media stories I like in times of awful tragedy. Hearing how brave people go above and beyond to help others. Media lets evil prevail when they focus on the gore and terrorized faces.

So Prayers from Northern Alberta for those affected by the happenings in Boston.

I heard an interview yesterday on a program on public radio called The Take Away, or something like that. Anyway, the host interviewed a surgeon that had completed the marathon 30 seconds before the first blast. Needless to say, he went to help, and after a long time working in the medical tent with nothing but adrenaline giving him power, he said he started to tire out. He felt like he had run a marathon. Well, he did, didn't he? It amounted to two marathons! Anyway, I was enormously impressed with this gentleman giving of his time and what energy he had left to offer help in this time of need. He said that most of the people coming to the tent had minor injuries, that the people with the worst injuries were taken straight to the hospital. I imagine there were numerous minor injuries that still needed a doctor's care. He was there for them.

Thinking of lori316 and her running family and of many many others. So so sad.

Heard from Lori via Facebook. Her sons were across the street from the explosion. They were there to cheer on other runners. Her boys are okay. Her late husband Bob had a connection to Martin, the young boy who died. Evidently Martin's running coach used to run for Bob. So very, very sad, but thank God Lori's kids are okay.

Thanks Pam. Such a sad turn to a life affirming tradition.

I'm so glad to hear that Lori and her family are safe, she's already been through much in her life.

My prayers are still in Boston, with the injured and their loved ones and with the officers who are investigating. I do hope they find the perpetrator(s) quickly.
