Uninstaller ??

Is there an uninstaller that will clean out a software in all the areas of my machine... there are times that when I use the Vista 64 uninstall that it seems that it doesn't get all the pieces.

Example ...about 6 months ago I tried a demo of a software and at the time I didn't care for it so it expired. Now I see they made improvements to it and when I tried to download the demo it tells me " MY 30 DAYS HAS EXPIRED" I think that my PC still has a fragment of that demo from the last time.

Any ideas on what I could use that is fairly safe? thanks.

Tell us what software specifically you want cleaned out.

Please provide the name of the Demo Software you installed and tried.

Please avoid registry cleaners too.

it was a recipe software called living cookbook.

Just wondering for future apps.

fwiw IE9 is my browser of choice.. I need activeX for some network servers & IE9 surely loads in a blink. Firefox upgrade, about 6mb, v11 to 12 failed here ... failed but graciously offered a full download. Uninstalled the FireFox11 manually in control panel before installing new Firefox12. Seemed fine. It offers remove personal settings or not.. I always do remove personal ... because I seldom use it MS Security essentials upgraded the beta 4 version without a hitch here thru microsoft automatic updates. It was like a wake up call to uninstall reinstall IE9 along with flash & java's... when I suddenly had errors .. page not responding ... and this is a new laptop, maybe 10 days old. Came with one error in the admin error log... i fixed that easy, a win7sp1 known error. Something that upgraded very recent hurt IE9 somehow.

Sometimes you can find an executable named "uninstall" or "unins" in the program folder of the product you wish to remove. A double click on that should get you rolling. If these aren't starting up on their own or otherwise interrupting other things you wish to do, you could also leave them where they are and ignore them. There's really no need or benefit to uninstalling unused programs.

The Zenbook UX303LN is now history. After the upgrade to Win 10 the touchpad driver would not stay installed. Each time the laptop was powered off, then restarted, the touchpad driver would have to be reinstalled. This is a known problem to Asus. I talked to Asus several times today, and also to Microsoft. Neither could provide any solution. I've spent hours on the phone to Asus and Microsoft trying to get a virtually brand new laptop to run correctly after "upgrading" to Win10, which apparently does not like Asus Zenbooks. I called Asus and Microsoft today to tell them I give up. I'm not spending all my free time on fixing this. After I got off the phone, I took a hammer to the laptop and jumped up and down on it. It's in the trash and headed for the landfill... I'm getting out my Mac Book Pro now....

Can't uninstall Open Office

Start/search programs and files. Type msconfig. Run the program. Open the start up tab. Disable all start files related to Open Office. Return to Remove Programs and it should remove it.

Usually recommend Revo unistaller. Caution should be taken when used.

Zep, what do you mean, specifically, by 'Caution should be taken when used.' regarding Revo uninstaller. Can problems be caused by its use?

Well it does access the registry and asks to delete keys, but I think that is only in Hunter Mode . That's why I gave the caution sign. Others may have a more detailed description of its use though.

I use revo all the time on other peoples computers as well as mine. With the advanced mode ticked almost always unless its one of the program having common ties to other programs like maybe an adobe reader unistall would with other adobe products.

Only maybe twice in gosh.. maybe over 100 uses it caused a problem. That kind of problem mostly would be registry and easily fixed it you have a recent restore point to use.

Hunter mode is for items that don't have an uninstaller .. I've only had to use the Hunter mode on the magic little virus's that are in doc/ user download folders and some magic little unknown icon in the system tray by clock.

But even in the advanced mode you're likely to find left overs in doc/user/applications and maybe in the /program files/ folder. And also in the registry hklm hku software tree.

Gotta admint,,, I dont worry much about problems. Most every problem has a fix.
