Uninstall Programs problems

I have an HP DV3500 laptop with Vista Home Premium. I would like to remove a couple programs, [ACDSee Pro2 and Fix-It Utilities Pro]. I went to the place to uninstall programs and they are not there. When I go through the start menu, they are both there along with others that are not in the uninstall place. Any ideas what I can do now? sfhill

Sometimes you can find an executable named "uninstall" or "unins" in the program folder of the product you wish to remove. A double click on that should get you rolling.

If these aren't starting up on their own or otherwise interrupting other things you wish to do, you could also leave them where they are and ignore them. There's really no need or benefit to uninstalling unused programs.

You may consider installing CCleaner. I have had an occurrence where an application was not present in the Program and Features report, but was present in the CC Add/Remove utility. I cannot explain why this was.

Owbist, the name of the game is Realwar. My grandson put it on both my PCs. I got it removed from the other one. The reason I was removing it was he never could figure out how to play it and I wanted to make sure I had plenty of room for the Roxio program. What about re-installing the game? Wouldn't it be able to pick up the missing file and then un-install? Or do you think I should do the Revo uninstaller?

How to uninstall Trend Micro anti virus program

I attempted to remove Trend Micro per instructions of Ravencajun. It was a most complicated process and I finally gave up on it when I "unzipped" 22 folders half a dozen times and the same unzip box reappeared. Finally, I cancelled all of this incomprehensible stuff and went to the simple "add/remove" option that is part of my Windows program. I clicked on "remove", and it indicated I had about 70mb of Trend Micro stuff, and asked was I sure I wanted to remove. Yes, of course. The green progress bar (made up of little squares) ran in its box for ahile, I was asked to reboot, and it seemed like that was the end. I rebooted and looked in my files for traces of Trend Micro, and could only find a few titles with 0kb content. I deleted these titles. The Trend Micro icons are gone. Am I rid of it? Seems like I am. How to check? RB

McAfee uninstall problem

I dunno, I'd try this again and follow it to the letter. Using McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool: - Double click the MCPR.exe - A Command Line window will be displayed, and then close automatically. - Wait for a second Command Line window to be displayed. Note: Do not double-click MCPR.exe again, you may have to wait up to 1 minute for the next window to appear. - After the second window appears, the program will begin the cleanup. - Observe the installation, which could take several minutes. The following message will be displayed in the Command Line window: The machine must reboot to complete the un-installation. Reboot now? [y.n] - Press Y on the keyboard. - Wait for the computer to restart. - All McAfee products are now removed from your computer.

I would probably uninstall the new version followed by a reboot... then download and install the old version. Hopefully then you can uninstall the old cleanly before installing newest version. Here is a link that might be useful: http://www.oldapps.com/java.php

It is my experience REVO on occasion will omit some 32 bit applications, but it is always worth a try.
